Trud Stadium is a bandy arena in Ulyanovsk, Russia. It is the home arena of bandy club Volga-SDYuSShOR, which is playing in the second-tier Russian Bandy Supreme League. With a higher spectator capacity than the more modern Volga-Sport-Arena in the same city, the semi-final Russia participated in and the final of the 2016 Bandy World Championship were played at Trud. Trud holds 15,000 seated spectators. FC Volga Ulyanovsk (russian: ФК «Во́лга» Улья́новск) is a professional association football club based in Ulyanovsk, Russia. In the 2022–23 season, it will play in the second-tier Russian First League. Their reserve team FC Volga-d Ulyanovsk used to play professionally as FC Energiya Ulyanovsk. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). Sandviken is a locality and the seat of Sandviken Municipality in Gävleborg County, Sweden with 39,234 inhabitants in 2019. It is situated about 25 km west of Gävle and lies approximately 190 km north of Stockholm. Göransson Arena
Göransson Arena is an indoor arena in Sandviken, Sweden. It opened in 2009 and holds up to 10,000 people at music events and 4,000 spectators for bandy. History The building of the arena was financed by the Göransson Foundations, established by Göran Fredrik Göransson who founded the Sandvik corporation. It was then sold to Sandviken Municipality for a symbolic sum of 1 SEK. It is the home arena for the bandy team Sandvikens AIK and the Bandy World Cup has been played there since 2009. Arena Yerofey (russian: Арена «Ерофей») is a bandy arena in Khabarovsk, Russia, hosting the 2015 Bandy World Championship. The Bandy World Championship is a competition between bandy-playing nations' men's teams. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup, a club competition, and from the Women's Bandy World Championship. A Youth Bandy World Championship also exists separately from the senior competition and has competitions in both the male and female categories. The 2020 Bandy World Championship for Division A was scheduled to be played in Irkutsk, Russia in 2020 but was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bandy Field
A bandy field or bandy rink is a large ice rink used for playing the team winter sport of bandy. Being about the size of a football pitch, it is substantially larger than an ice hockey rink. History Originally, bandy was played on naturally frozen ice, mainly on lakes. Teams often had to take time to go out and search for the best ice to use. Soon, ice started to be created on soccer pitches in the wintertime, allowing for a more safe place to play. This may be the reason the outer measurements are the same as for a soccer field. The first artificially frozen bandy field was created in Budapest, Hungary, in 1923. In the 1980s, indoor arenas started to be built, allowing for a longer season. 2016 Bandy World Championship
Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Most of the games was played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk. Because of its higher spectator capacity, the group stage matches between Russia and Sweden and between Russia and Kazakhstan were played at Trud Stadium, which also hosted one semi-final and the final. Some games were played in nearby Dimitrovgrad at Stadium Stroitel. The Division A tournament was played from 1 February until 7 February 2016, while the Division B tournament took place afterwards, on 10–14 February. Volga-Sport-Arena is a sports venue in Ulyanovsk, Russia. It is the home of Volga. At the 2016 Bandy World Championship it hosted most of the matches. Volga-Sport-Arena holds 5,000 seated spectators.
