TruConnect
TruConnect, formally known as TruConnect Mobile, is an American mobile virtual network operator (Mobile virtual network operator, MVNO) that sells mobile Hotspot (Wi-Fi), hotspots and smartphones, 3G/4G LTE (telecommunication), LTE mobile data plans and prepaid cell phone talk & text plans on both T-Mobile International AG, T-Mobile and Verizon networks. TruConnect was the first prepaid broadband provider in the U.S. to offer a pay-as-you-go, portable Wi-Fi service plans. The only Lifeline provider (ETC) headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. TruConnect uses either Verizon's and/or T-Mobile's network depending on location. TruConnect was founded by Matthew Johnson and Nathan Johnson and provides wireless, residential and small business telecommunication services under the Sage Telecom, Telscape Communications and TruConnect Mobile brands. Sage Telecom, Inc was founded in 1996 as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) reselling telecommunications primarily in rural markets served by SBC Communications. The company provided local phone service, local bundled phone service and dial up internet access in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin. In February 2006 the company announced eSageLink, a high-speed dial up Internet service available first in and around Muncie, Indiana. In January 2007, Sage announced it had been acquired by hedge fund Silver Point Capital. In July, 2012, Sage was acquired by Telscape Communications.
