Trout Run is a tributary of Shamokin Creek in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately long and flows through Coal Township. The watershed of the stream has an area of . The stream is not designated as impaired and has a high level of water quality. It flows through a valley between Big Mountain and Little Mountain. A reservoir is located in the stream's watershed and it has been used as a water supply. The stream is designated as a Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery and supports aquatic life. Course Trout Run begins in the Number Four Reservoir in Coal Township. It heads west-southwest for several tenths of a mile, flowing through a broad, deep valley between two ridges. Mauch Chunk Formation
The Mississippian Mauch Chunk Formation is a mapped bedrock unit in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. It is named for the township of Mauch Chunk, now known as borough of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania and for nearby Mauch Chunk Ridge where the formation crops out. Description The Mauch Chunk is defined as a grayish-red shale, siltstone, sandstone, and conglomerate. The Loyalhanna Member is a local limestone and sandy limestone at its base, as well as the Greenbrier and Wymps Gap Members. Along the Allegheny Front, the Loyalhanna is a greenish-gray, calcareous, cross bedded sandstone. A notable exposure of the Loyalhanna Member is Laurel Caverns in Fayette County. Hurricane Eloise
Hurricane Eloise was the most destructive tropical cyclone of the 1975 Atlantic hurricane season. The fifth tropical storm, fourth hurricane, and second major hurricane of the season, Eloise formed as a tropical depression on September 13 to the east of the Virgin Islands. The depression tracked westward and intensified into a tropical storm while passing to the north of Puerto Rico. Eloise briefly attained hurricane intensity soon thereafter, but weakened back to a tropical storm upon making landfall over Hispaniola. A weak and disorganized cyclone, Eloise emerged into open waters of the northern Caribbean Sea; upon striking the northern Yucatan Peninsula, it turned north and began to re-intensify.
