Troops (fan Film)
''Troops'' is a 1997 short mockumentary film directed by Kevin Rubio that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con International on July 18, 1997 and was subsequently distributed via the internet. The film is a parody of '' COPS'', set in the '' Star Wars'' universe. In the film, Imperial stormtroopers from the infamous Black Sheep Squadron patrolling the Dune Sea on the planet Tatooine run into some very familiar characters while being filmed for the hit Imperial TV show ''Troops''. In a Reddit AMA in January 2018, Rubio stated that ''Troops'' is acknowledged by George Lucas as a canonical installment in the ''Star Wars'' franchise. Kevin Rubio
Kevin Rubio (born December 20, 1967) is an American filmmaker who is best known for his ''Star Wars'' parody film ''Troops''. Education and early career Rubio studied theater and photography throughout his high school years in California, and made his directorial debut at the age of 17 with a stage adaptation of Robert Redford’s ''Ordinary People''. He spent the next two years directing musical theater in such productions as ''You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown'' and ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat'', earning several awards for these productions. From 1984 - 1988, he apprenticed in the field of lighting, set design, and directing under George Costa, director of the San Jose Civic Light Opera House. El Mirage Dry Lake
El Mirage Lake is a dry lake bed in the northwestern Victor Valley of the central Mojave Desert, within San Bernardino County, California. The lake is located about west-northwest of the town of Adelanto and north of Highway 18 in San Bernardino County. The dry lake, at an elevation of , is approximately long. El Mirage Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area (OHV) Formerly open to all visitors, it has been a popular spot for many activities ranging from gyrocopter and ultralight aircraft operations to automobile racing. The Bureau of Land Management has installed a fence to enclose the lake and some of the surrounding areas, and now charges fees for entry to what is now known as the El Mirage Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area. The Official ''Star Wars'' Fan Film Awards was an annual contest put forth by Lucasfilm and AtomFilms to showcase and acknowledge the growing genre of fan films made by, for, and about fans of the ''Star Wars'' saga. The inaugural contest in 2002 was the first time Lucasfilm had officially sanctioned the genre. In 2007, the contest was renamed the ''Star Wars'' Fan Movie Challenge. ''Baa Baa Black Sheep'' (renamed ''Black Sheep Squadron'' for the second season) is an American television series that aired on NBC from September 23, 1976, until April 6, 1978. It was part historical drama, period military drama, part comedy. In the final seven episodes, the character list was revamped, dropping some squadron pilots, adding a 16-year-old pilot and four nurses. Tom Servo is a fictional character from the American science fiction comedy television show ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (''MST3K'').
