TROMP Percussion Eindhoven is a biennial percussion competition and festival held in Eindhoven, Netherlands since 1971. In 2012, TROMP will be organising its fourth percussion competition (twenty-first competition in total). It is scheduled to take place from 2 till 11 November 2012. Emmy Verhey (born 13 March 1949, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch violinist. Biography Verhey received her first violin lesson from her father when she was seven. Within a year, she played the Violin Concerto in A minor and the Concerto for Two Violins by Johann Sebastian Bach. Recognized as a child prodigy, she went to study at age 8 with the Austrian-born violin teacher Oskar Back. Later she studied with Herman Krebbers, Bela Dekany, Wolfgang Schneiderhan in Lucerne and David Oistrakh in Moscow. At the age of 17, she was the youngest prize winning finalist at the 1966 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. A week later Verhey graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory. Alexej Gerassimez
Alexej Gerassimez (born 1987 in Essen) is a German solo percussion player and composer. Gerassimez was born in Essen, Germany. His brothers are also musicians: Nicolai Gerassimez is a pianist and Wassily Gerassimez is a cellist. He studied at the Cologne Conservatory of Music, the Berlin Conservatory and the Munich Conservatory of Music. In 2010 he won the TROMP Percussion Competition for solo percussion as well as the Audience Award and the Press Prize. In 2015 he took up a tutoring position at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in England. He has performed with orchestras in Europe including the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and the Bochum Philharmonic, as well as internationally in Japan, in the US with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and in New Zealand. Nico Asher Muhly (; born August 26, 1981) is an American contemporary classical music composer and arranger who has worked and recorded with both classical and pop musicians. A prolific composer, he has composed for many notable symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles and has had two operas commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera. Michael Torke
Michael Torke (; born September 22, 1961) is an American composer who writes music influenced by jazz and minimalism. Torke was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he attended Wilson Elementary School, graduated from Wauwatosa East High School, and studied at the Eastman School of Music with Joseph Schwantner and Christopher Rouse, and at Yale University. Works Sometimes described as a post-minimalist, his most characteristically postminimal piece is ''Four Proverbs'', in which the syllable for each pitch is fixed and variations in the melody produce streams of nonsense words. Steve Martland (10 October 1954 – 7 May 2013) was an English composer. He helped to curate the Factory Classical label of Factory Records, featuring contemporary British composers. Life and music Martland was born in Liverpool, and studied composition at Liverpool University and in the Netherlands with Louis Andriessen. He worked almost exclusively with artists outside classical institutions—Dutch and American groups, freelance musicians and especially his own Steve Martland Band which tours his music internationally. Louis Andriessen
Louis Joseph Andriessen (; 6 June 1939 – 1 July 2021) was a Dutch composer, pianist and academic teacher. Considered the most influential Dutch composer of his generation, he was a central proponent of The Hague school of composition. Although his music was initially dominated by neoclassicism and serialism, his style gradually shifted to a synthesis of American minimalism, jazz and the manner of Stravinsky. Born in Utrecht into a musical family, Andriessen studied with his father, the composer Hendrik Andriessen as well as composers Kees van Baaren and Luciano Berio. Terry Bozzio
Terry John Bozzio (born December 27, 1950) is an American drummer best known for his work with Missing Persons and Frank Zappa. He has been featured on nine solo or collaborative albums, 26 albums with Zappa and seven albums with Missing Persons. Bozzio has been a prolific sideman, playing on numerous releases by other artists since the mid-1970s. He was inducted into the ''Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 1997.
