Trollfossen
''Trollfossen'' is a Norwegian film from 1948. It was directed by Alf Scott-Hansen and featured Ola Isene and Wenche Foss in the lead roles. The film tells the story of the skilled pianist Sylvia Strøm (Wenche Foss), who is forced by her husband, the unscrupulous hydropower developer Director Strøm (Ola Isene), to sacrifice music for electrification. She falls in love with the dam guard Engineer Borg (Knut Wigert), but then the workers begin to sabotage the construction work so that foreign interests can gain control of the waterfall. A recurring theme is Edvard Grieg's ''Piano Concerto in A minor'', which is repeatedly linked to Per G. Jonson's film clips of Norwegian waterfalls (especially Vøring Falls) and mountains. Ola Isene
Ola Isene (2 June 1898 – 6 May 1973) was a Norwegian opera singer (baritone) and actor. Isene was born in Rødenes and studied at the Musikkonservatoriet in Oslo, Kristiania. He made his professional debut at the Mayol-teatret in 1923. His operatic roles were varied, among them Beckmesser in ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg'', Scarpia in ''Tosca'', and Amonasro in ''Aïda'' – most of them at the Nationaltheatret, which at the time had opera on its programme. He took part in many tours and also appeared in operettas, including as Schubert in ''Jomfruburet''. In 1929, he sang Al Jolson's parts from The Jazz Singer when it was presented as a silent film in Sweden, and in the middle of the 1930s, he moved to theatre and film as an actor. Wenche Foss
Eva Wenche Steenfeldt Stang (5 December 1917 – 28 March 2011), better known as Wenche Foss (), was a leading Norwegian actress of stage, screen and television. Personal life Wenche Foss was born to engineer Christian August Steenfeldt-Foss (1878–1960) and Alfhild Røren. Foss grew up with an atheist mother and a devout Christian father; she inherited both views but has stated: "I could not fall asleep without the prayer". Her first marriage was to engineer and film producer Alf Scott-Hansen (1903–1961), a son of port director Alf Scott-Hansen, but the marriage was dissolved. In 1953 she married landowner and industrialist Thomas Stang (1897–1982), thus becoming a sister-in-law of Axel Heiberg Stang and daughter-in-law of Ole A. Stang and Emma Heiberg. Knut Wigert
Knut Kirsebom Wigert (3 October 1916 – 14 June 2006) was a Norwegian actor, known for his many Ibsen roles and the establishment of an Ibsen museum in Oslo. Personal life Knut Hansen was born in Skien as a son of Major Sigvald Hansen (1881–1954) and his wife Carmen Franciska Christina Kirsebom (1887–1951), and a younger brother of Sonja Wigert. He changed his last name to Wigert in 1935. Wigert was married to Eva Nordlie from 1942 to 1946. In January 1950 he married ship-owner Sofie Helene Huitfeldt, née Olsen. The marriage lasted until her death in September 1989. They resided in Bærum. He was a son-in-law of ship-owner Rudolf Olsen, and the family inherited large properties including the manor Dirhue at Tjøme. Thorleif Reiss
Thorleif Dymling Reiss (May 22, 1898 – April 14, 1988) was a Norwegian actor. Career Reiss made his debut at the National Theater in Oslo in 1918. From 1931 to 1939, he was employed at the Carl Johan Theater, where he also served as co-director. From 1942 onward he was employed at the New Theater. Family Reiss was the son of the lawyer, composer, and musicologist Georg Reiss and Elisabeth Dymling (1861–1920). He was the brother of the pianist and cabaret performer Elisabeth Reiss and the father of the actor Helge Reiss. Marit Halset
Marit Halset (May 18, 1912 – March 22, 1986) was a Norwegian actress. She performed roles in theater, radio theater, and film. Halset was engaged with the National Theater in Oslo from 1933 to 1948. She debuted as the young girl Hazel Niles in Eugene O'Neill's play ''Mourning Becomes Electra'' in the spring of 1933. There she performed together with Johanne Dybwad, August Oddvar, and Ingolf Schanche. Later, she performed significant roles as sensitive young girls, and she ended her time at the National Theater by playing Leonora in Ludvig Holberg's '' The Fidget'' in 1948. Finn Bø (4 July 1893 – 24 April 1962) was a Norwegian songwriter, revue writer, playwright, journalist, instructor and theatre critic. Career Bø is particularly remembered for his song Norge i rødt, hvitt og blått, which became extremely popular in 1945. Among his other popular songs are "Nå går'n på gummisåler" and "Bare rundt omkring", both from 1928. He published the anecdote collection ''Forbuden frukt'' in 1945, and the song collection ''Jeg tar mig den frihet'' in 1946. Several of his plays were also adapted into films. Olav Engebretsen, also Olaf Engebretsen (December 25, 1905 – March 30, 1988) was a Norwegian film editor and director. Engebretsen was primarily active as a film editor from 1941 to 1962. The films that he edited include ''Den forsvundne pølsemaker'' (1941), ''Jeg drepte!'', (1942), and ''Line'' (1961). Alf Scott-Hansen (10 November 1870 – 16 September 1936) was a Norwegian engineer and civil servant. Personal life He was born in Leith, Scotland as a son of priest in the Norwegian Church Abroad (''Sjømannskirken''), Andreas Michael Hansen (1834–1901) and Simonine Stephansen (1840–1925).
