Trolleybuses In Vilnius
The Vilnius trolleybus system is the one of two existing trolleybus systems in Lithuania. It operates in the capital city of Vilnius, the municipal operator company is ''Vilniaus viešasis transportas Ltd''. 188 trolleybuses are working on working-days, 106 - on weekends. History In October 1956 , Vilnius Trolleybus Board was established and a 7.8 km long contact network was built, together with a trolleybus park for 25 trolleybuses. In November 1956, first model "MTB-82D" trolleybuses started to work and drove on route "Antakalnis–Railway station". In 1981, the trolleybus count doubled the maximum service power of the old trolleybus park, thus, encouraging a construction of the second park. The second trolleybus park was opened on 28 December 1985, in the neighborhood of Viršuliškės and it could maintain 150 trolleybuses. Solaris Bus & Coach
Solaris Bus & Coach is a Polish producer of public transport vehicles (buses, trolleybuses and trams), with its headquarters in Bolechowo-Osiedle near Poznań. It is a subsidiary of Spanish CAF. Solaris owns four production sites: its main factory and headquarters in Bolechowo (final assembly of buses and trolleybuses), two plants in Środa Wielkopolska (a welding shop for bodyframes of buses and trolleybuses and a welding shop for tram bodies) as well as a final assembling hall for rolling stock, located in Poznań, in Wieruszowska street. The firm arose from the enterprise Neoplan Polska established in 1994. A production facility was launched in Bolechowo-Osiedle near Poznań in 1996. Naujininkai is one of the elderships of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is situated in the south-west of the city and lies between Vilnius International Airport and the railway station. Justiniškės
Justiniškės, located in western edge of Vilnius, is one of the newest districts in the capital of Lithuania. It is also one of the 21 elderships of Vilnius city municipality. It was built mainly in the 1980s as a microdistrict. Almost all buildings are large Soviet-built residential apartment complexes. According to the Lithuanian census of 2011, it has a population of 27,462. Facilities There are about 289 large apartment buildings. Žirmūnai
Žirmūnai () is the most populous administrative division ( elderate) in Vilnius. It is also a neighbourhood in the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius, encompassing the city district of the same name, built in the 1960s. Žirmūnai's history has been traced to the late 14th century, when a Lithuanian fishing village was founded across the River Neris from Vilnius' Old Town. Žvėrynas
Žvėrynas (literally ''the menagerie'') is one of the older neighborhoods and smallest elderships in Vilnius, Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, 11,079 people live within its 2.6 km² area. It lies on the banks of the Neris River, and is situated to the west of the Lithuanian Parliament building. The river surrounds it from three sides and isolates it from the city. On the other side of the river, to the northwest, lies Vingis Park. Initially, it was a private out of town hunting area until the end of the 19th century, later it was developed as a resort and therefore many decorated wooden houses have survived from these times. Karoliniškės
Karoliniškės is a microdistrict and eldership of Vilnius, Lithuania. Construction of this district started in 1971. Karoliniškės covers about 3.7 km² in area. There is about 1.015 km² of the slop area along the Neris River, and about 0.11 km² of a small forest, called Pasakų parkas (park of fairy-tales). The tallest structure in Lithuania, the Vilnius TV Tower, is also situated in this district. Karoliniškės was the main site of the January Events of 1991.
