Atlas Genius
Atlas Genius are an alternative rock band formed in Adelaide, South Australia in November 2009. The band's mainstay members are the Jeffery brothers, Keith on lead vocals and lead guitar; Michael on drums; and Darren Sell on keyboard. Their debut album, '' When It Was Now'', was issued on 9 February 2013 and peaked at No. 34 on the United States ''Billboard'' 200. In 2013 two of their singles appeared on the related Alternative Songs Chart, "Trojans" (released in May 2011) at No. 4 and "If So" (February 2013) at No. 8. In 2013 the group toured the US in April and May, United Kingdom in May, and back to the US in August. In 2015 they released their second studio album, '' Inanimate Objects''. Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. It also reached No. 10 on the Top Alternative Albums chart. The only single from the album, "If So", reached No. 8 on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart. It has sold 79,000 copies in the United States as of August 2015. Recording and production The band wrote, recorded and produced ''When It Was Now'' themselves at a studio they built in their hometown of Adelaide. It was mixed by Michael Brauer at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. They also recorded many of the final tracks in hotels in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. In addition, some of the final mixing was done in London. Once their studio was built, the first song that Atlas Genius finished was "Trojans." Goldroom
Josh Legg, known professionally as Goldroom, is an American electronic musician. Background and career Legg grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts and studied psychology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He and classmate Kyle Peterson formed the synthpop band NightWaves and co-founded the record label Binary Entertainment, although the former went on hiatus in 2011. Since being established in 2007, Binary has worked with artists including Anoraak, Bag Raiders, College, Futurecop!, Miami Horror, and The Twelves. Legg began producing music under the name Goldroom in 2011, with remixes of tracks including Niki and the Dove's "Mother Protect". He took his stage name from the name of a bar in the Echo Park area of LA. He released his debut EP, ''Angeles'', the same year, followed by the EP ''Embrace'' in 2013. Atlas Genius EPs
An atlas is a collection of maps; it is typically a bundle of maps of Earth or of a region of Earth. Atlases have traditionally been bound into book form, but today many atlases are in multimedia formats. In addition to presenting geographic features and political boundaries, many atlases often feature geopolitical, social, religious and economic statistics. They also have information about the map and places in it. Etymology The use of the word "atlas" in a geographical context dates from 1595 when the German-Flemish geographer Gerardus Mercator published ("Atlas or cosmographical meditations upon the creation of the universe and the universe as created"). This title provides Mercator's definition of the word as a description of the creation and form of the whole universe, not simply as a collection of maps.
