Trofeo Alasport
The Trofeo Alasport, also known as the Cross di Alà dei Sardi, is an annual cross country running competition which takes place in March in Alà dei Sardi on the Italy, Italian island of Sardinia. Unusually for a high-profile cross country event, it has often been held after the IAAF World Cross Country Championships which occurs in late March. The Trofeo Alasport is traditionally the final event of the cross country season in Italy. The competition was initiated in 1973 by a local athletics (sport), athletics enthusiast, Antonello Baltolu, and has been held on an annual basis since then by the local sports association, the ''Società Sportiva Alasport''. It is one of the foremost competitions of its type in Italy, alongside the Cinque Mulini, and attracts international competitors of the highest calibre. Alà dei Sardi ( sc, Alà) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Sassari in the Italy, Italian region Sardinia, located about north of Cagliari and about southwest of Olbia. Alà dei Sardi borders the following municipalities: Berchidda, Bitti, Buddusò, Monti, Italy, Monti, Olbia, Oschiri, Padru. Cristina Tomasini (born 26 July 1958) is an Italian female retired long-distance runner, which participated at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics. Biography Her best result at International level was the 5th place at the 1977 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, competition when she won also three important medals with the team, while at European level her best result was the victory at IAAF World Cross Country Championships held in Formia in 1982. She won four times the national championships at senior level. Her performance on the 5000 metres in 1980, when she was under 23, was the third time in Europe.
