Troadio Gonzalez
Troadio John Gonzalez (born 28 December 1941) is a justice of the Supreme Court of Belize. Career Born in Belize, Gonzalez received his Bachelor of Law from the University of the West Indies Law Faculty in Barbados and Jamaica, and went on to the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. He served as Crown Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 1981 to 1988, Chief Magistrate from 1988 to 1991, and Director of Public Prosecutions from 1991 to 1993. He was appointed as a justice of the Supreme Court of Belize in 1993. He served as acting Chief Justice of Belize from 1999 until Abdulai Conteh of Sierra Leone was formally appointed to that position the following year. Gonzalez is believed to hold Belize's record for the longest delay in rendering a judgment in a case: ''DFC v Classic Woods Limited'', which was heard in 1994 but on which he had not yet delivered a judgment by nearly fifteen years later in September 2009. Manuel Sosa (judge)
Sir Manuel Sosa CBE (born 1950) is a former president of the Belize Court of Appeal, a position he held from 3 January 2011 to 24 December 2020, the longest term of any holder of that office. Career Sosa was called to the Belize Bar in 1976. He then served as an attorney in private practice until 1998, in the interim also taking a position on the Belize Advisory Council from 1987 to 1997 and temporarily serving as a Supreme Court of Belize justice in 1993. In 1998, he was named Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Belize in a controversial appointment by outgoing United Democratic Party PM Manuel Esquivel which was made right before the Belizean general election, 1998. He succeeded George B. Singh, who with his failing health in mind was transferred to a less demanding position as a Justice of Appeal, only to pass away by March 1999. ''Amandala'' is a Belizean tabloid newspaper. Published twice weekly, it is Belize's largest newspaper. ''Amandala'' was established in 1969 as the print organ of the now-defunct United Black Association for Development (UBAD), but has been politically independent since the mid-1970s. Its offices are located at 3304 Partridge Street in Belize City. As of 2017, it has published over 3000 issues. The name The name "Amandala" is adapted from the Xhosa language, Xhosa/Zulu language, Zulu word "Amandla (power), amandla", which means "power".
