Triumph Rocket
The Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner (previously known as the Hot Rod Conspiracy/Carpenter Racing Castrol Rocket or Triumph Castrol Rocket) is a streamliner motorcycle built to challenge the motorcycle land speed record. It is powered by twin destroked and turbocharged inline-3 engines sourced from the Triumph Rocket III, generating a claimed output greater than . The streamliner shell is a monocoque constructed from carbon fiber/kevlar. The motorcycle was designed and built by Matt Markstaller, an engineer who designed and built a wind tunnel for tractor-trailers in Portland, Oregon. It was ridden by Jason DiSalvo, followed by Guy Martin. Streamliner Motorcycle
A streamlined motorcycle is a motorcycle with a fairing that goes beyond a 'full' or 'dustbin' fairing, to form an aerodynamic shell to minimize drag. This helps attaining higher top speeds, as in the motorcycle land-speed record, or increased energy efficiency, as in the Craig Vetter Fuel Economy Challenge. Often they are feet forwards motorcycles or have the rider in a prone position, rather than upright, to reduce the frontal area exposed to headwind. Bonneville Speedway
Bonneville Speedway (also known as the Bonneville Salt Flats Race Track) is an area of the Bonneville Salt Flats northeast of Wendover, Utah, that is marked out for motor sports. It is particularly noted as the venue for numerous land speed records. The Bonneville Salt Flats Race Track is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The salt flats were first used for motor sports in 1912, but did not become truly popular until the 1930s when Ab Jenkins and Sir Malcolm Campbell competed to set land speed records. Guy Martin
Guy Martin (born 4 November 1981) is a British former motorcycle racer and heavy vehicle mechanic who became a television presenter. In July 2017, Martin retired from motorcycle racing. Martin started racing in 1998 and in 2004 competed on a road circuit for the first time at the Isle of Man TT. A straight-three engine (also called an inline-triple or inline-three) is a three-cylinder piston engine where cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft.
