Patricia Morley "Trish" Porter (née King) (born August 27, 1962 in Atherton, California) is an American track and field athlete, specializing in the high jump. She represented her native country at the Athletics at the 1988 Summer Olympics – Women's high jump, 1988 Olympics. She was married to Pat Porter also a Athletics at the 1988 Summer Olympics – Men's 10,000 metres, 1988 and Athletics at the 1984 Summer Olympics – Men's 10,000 metres, 1984 Olympian in 1991. Both her husband and her 15-year-old son Connor were killed in a private plane crash in Sedona, Arizona on July 26, 2012 Early career King claims she was always athletic. Louise Dorothy Ritter (born February 18, 1958) is an American former track and field athlete who won the gold medal in the high jump at the 1988 Olympic Games. United States Records In Masters Athletics
These are the current records in the various age groups of masters athletics for United States competitors. Starting at age 35, each age group starts on the athlete's birthday in years that are evenly divisible by 5 and extends until the next such occurrence. For record purposes, older athletes are not included in younger age groups, except in the case of relay team members. A relay team's age group is determined by the age of the youngest member. There are two categories of relay records, one for composite teams made up of four American runners usually National teams at major championships, and a Club record for members of the same club, from the same Association. Some masters events (hurdles, throwing implements) have modified specifications. The combined events use an age-graded result applied against the standard scoring table. Debbie Brill
Debbie Arden Brill, (born March 10, 1953) is a Canadian high jump athlete who at the age of 16 became the first North American woman to clear 6 feet. Her reverse jumping style—which is now almost exclusively the technique of elite high jumpers—was called the Brill Bend and was developed by her when she was a child, around the same time as Dick Fosbury was developing the similar Fosbury Flop in the USA. Brill won gold in the high jump at the 1970 Commonwealth Games, and at the Pan American Games in 1971. She finished 8th in the 1972 Summer Olympics, then quit the sport in the wake of the Munich massacre, returning three years later. She won gold at the IAAF World Cup in 1979, and at the 1982 Commonwealth Games. She has held the Canadian high jump record since 1969, and set the current record of 1.99 meters in 1982, a few months after giving birth to her first child.
