The 2015 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced Australia Day, 26 January 2016. It is the 23rd countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. Voting commenced on 9 December 2015, and closed on 22 January 2016. Voters nominated ten songs that were released between December 2014 and November 2015 and submitted them through the Triple J website. Over 2 million votes were again cast, this year from 172 countries. 54 songs in the 2015 Hottest 100 are by Australian artists, with 26 artists of any nationality making their debut. Despite a betting agency's campaign aimed at getting Justin Bieber featured in the list, similar to 2014's #Tay4Hottest100, Triple J announced no songs have been disqualified from the 2015 list. The Rubens are an Australian alternative rock band from Menangle, New South Wales. The band comprises the three Margin brothers, Zaac, Sam and Elliott, and friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis. "Let It Happen" is a song by the Australian rock band Tame Impala. It was released as the lead single from their third studio album, ''Currents'' (2015), on 10 March 2015. The song centers on accepting personal transition, and was worked on in various locations around the world. The song runs at nearly eight minutes long, and its second half contains a section of the song repeating akin to a scratched Compact Disc, and stripped-down lyrics consisting of gibberish. It also has vocoded-like vocals in the second half, which were actually manipulated with a keyboard sampler. The song received acclaim from music critics. It peaked at number 29 on the Belgian Flanders singles chart, number 84 on the ARIA Singles Chart and number 152 on the French Singles Chart. Megan Sullivan McInerney (born 6 July 1990 in Sydney), known by her stage name Meg Mac, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. She signed to littleBIGMAN records in 2014, locally, and 300 Entertainment in United States. Early career Mac started developing her singing as soon as she could speak. She started writing songs as a teen. She began a degree in Digital Media but soon quit this after she moved to Perth to study music at the WA Academy of Performing Arts. After completing her degree, she recorded "Known Better" and submitted it to Triple J's Unearthed program. Hermitude is an Australian electronic- hip hop duo, originating from the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. Biography Early years and ''Explanetary'' Multi-instrumentalists, Luke Dubber (a.k.a. Luke Dubs) and Angus Stuart (a.k.a. El Gusto), have collaborated in bands since 1994, when they were aged 16 and 11, respectively.
