Triple J Hottest 100, 2007
The 2007 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2008. It was the fifteenth countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. Voting began on 1 January 2008, and closed on 20 January 2008. More than 700,000 votes were counted in the poll. The broadcast began at 10 a.m. AEST, and for the first time was broadcast live to all time zones (as opposed to being on a delayed broadcast). Triple J hosted two live sites, one at The Domain, Sydney and one at Melbourne Docklands. The 2007 poll was the closest in Hottest 100 history with only 13 votes separating the number 1 and 2 songs. The 2007 Hottest 100 contained 52 works by Australian artists. This equals the results in the 1999 poll. Muse (band)
Muse are an English Rock music, rock band from Teignmouth, Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of Matt Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Wolstenholme (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums). "Don't Fight It" is a song written and recorded by the Australian band The Panics. It was released in August 2007 as the lead single from the band's third studio album, ''Cruel Guards''. In January 2008, the song was voted in at number 10 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007. Following this, the song entered and peaked at number 43 in the ARIA Charts in February 2008, becoming the band's first single in the ARIA top 100. Soko (singer)
Stéphanie Alexandra Mina Sokolinski (born 26 October 1985), and known professionally as Soko (stylized as SoKo), is a French singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. She has been active since 2002. Soko released her debut single "I'll Kill Her" in 2007. It achieved airplay success in several European countries as well as Australia, being the No. 1 song on the Danish version of iTunes and peaking at No. 3 on the Denmark music charts. Cold War Kids is an American alternative rock band from Long Beach, California. "Hang Me Up to Dry" is a song by American indie rock band Cold War Kids. Written and co-produced by all four band members and Matt Wignall, it originally came from their third EP ''Up in Rags'' (2006) and is the second track off their debut album ''Robbers & Cowards'' (2006). Lyrically, the song tells a story of a 'one-sided relationship' and uses the action of hanging wet clothes on a clothesline as a metaphor for the relationship. It was released as a single on January 29, 2007 by Downtown and V2 Records, charting at number 57 in the UK and number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart. The song was re-released (using the same catalogue number and track listing) on July 9, 2007 but failed to break back into the charts. Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994. Foo Fighters was initially formed as a one-man project by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. Following the success of the eponymous debut album, Grohl (lead vocals, guitar) recruited a band consisting of Nate Mendel (bass guitar), William Goldsmith (drums), and Pat Smear (guitar). "This Heart Attack" is the first single from Faker (band), Faker's second album ''Be the Twilight''. It was released digitally on 13 October 2007 and physically on 27 October 2007. The track was voted in at number five in Triple J's Triple J Hottest 100, 2007, Hottest 100 2007 competition. A remix of "This Heart Attack" by Miami Horror appeared on the Ministry of Sound Clubber's Guide to 2008. Hamish & Andy performed a parody of the song, titled "The Last Line Was Crap" to Faker while they were on their radio show.
