Trinity–Antonian Cricket Encounter
The Trinity–Antonian Cricket Encounter (known as ''The Hill Country Battle of the Blues'') is the leading annual school cricket match (Big Match) of the hill country which is played between Trinity College, Kandy and St. Anthony's College, Kandy since 1914. It is considered to be one of the oldest annual school cricket encounters in Sri Lanka. This encounter is being played for the John Halangoda Memorial Trophy and is awarded to the team who manages to win the match by means of an outright win or failing that, a first innings win. But a first innings win will not go into the records as a win to the relevant team. Out of the 102 games played, the Trinitians have won 23 with 11 ending in favour of the Antonians. The last outright win for the Antonians was in 1992 and Trinity won last under Niroshan Dickwella in 2012 after the 1986 win under Thushara Weerasuriya. The victory came after 26 years. Lakshman Jayakody
Lakshman Jayakody (24 August 1930 – 30 August 2010) was a Sri Lankan politician, an SLFP stalwart and the Minister of Cultural and Religious Affairs in the Sri Lankan Cabinet from 1994 to 2000. Lakshman Jayakody was born 24 August 1930 the eldest child of Lionel Jayakody and Gwendoline. He commenced his education at Ladies' College, Colombo, where his mother was educated, before the family moved to Kandy, when he was admitted Trinity College. Later he gained admission to Ananda College, Colombo to do advance level studies, where he also represented the college XI cricket team and won colours in cricket. Jayakody joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) on 1 November 1954, and became the General Secretary of the SLFP Trade Union in 1959. Dharmaraja–Kingswood Cricket Encounter
The Dharmaraja–Kingswood Cricket Encounter is a cricket match between two government-run national schools in Kandy, Sri Lanka, Dharmaraja College (with approximately 4,500 students) and Kingswood College (with approximately 3,500 students). It is the oldest cricket match series in the central province and 2nd oldest in Sri Lanka having been played for 111 years. It is also known as the "Battle of the Maroons". The first match was played in 1893, with the Dharmaraja College team captained by the great educationist, later Sir Don Baron Jayathilake, who was the principal of Dharmaraja at that time. The Royal–Thomian (The Battle of the Blues) is an annual cricket match in Sri Lanka played between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia since 1879. It is known as ''The Battle of the Blues'' due to the colours of the two school's flags i.e. blue, gold and blue of Royal College and blue, black and blue of S. Thomas' College. Dudley Marlon Von Hagt (born 31 March 1965) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played one One Day International in 1985. He currently lives in Victoria, Australia. International career Von Hagt was part of the Sri Lanka squad that toured England in 1984. He was the 12th man for the one-off test at Lord's. He Represented Sri Lanka in an ODI of the Benson & Hedges World Series Cup in February 1985 vs. Australia at Perth. Piyal Kashyapa Wijetunge (born 6 August 1971) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in one Test match in 1993.
