Trinity Bight
Trinity Bight is a large area of the Northwestern portion of Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The bight contains the communities of New Bonaventure, Old Bonaventure, Trouty, Dunfield, Goose Cove, Trinity, Lockston, Trinity East, Port Rexton, Champney's Arm, Champney's West, Champney's East, and English Harbour. The area is not to be confused with the bay named Trinity Bight in the Strait of Belle Isle, Newfoundland. Trinity Bay, Newfoundland And Labrador
Trinity Bay is a large bay on the northeastern coast of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Bay along with Placentia Bay to the southwest define the isthmus of Avalon from which the Avalon Peninsula lies to the east of the main landmass of Newfoundland Island. The maximum depth of the bay is about . Major fishing communities include Trinity and Heart's Content. The smaller communities in Newfoundland may often be referenced by the Bay in which they are located, e.g.: 'Brownsdale, TB'. Industry Trinity Bay is the location of where a "nearly intact" specimen of giant squid was found, on September 24, 1877. In April 2003, thousands of dead northern cod, washed up on the shores of Smith Sound in a single weekend, prompting scientific inquiry into the cause. Trinity East, Newfoundland and Labrador is a designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is southwest of Catalina on the Bonavista Peninsula. Strait Of Belle Isle
The Strait of Belle Isle (; french: Détroit de Belle Isle ) is a waterway in eastern Canada that separates the Labrador Peninsula from the island of Newfoundland, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. English Harbour, Newfoundland And Labrador
English Harbour is a community in Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Way Office was established in 1883 and the first Waymaster was Henry G. Batson. It had a population of 190 in 1956. It is the home of All Saints Anglican Church, a provincial heritage site. The church contains the English Harbour Arts Centre,. The Centre is used for musical and theatrical productions in the summer season. The English Harbour Arts Association (a not for profit charitable organization) was founded in 2004 to save the old church from demolition and find a new role for it. Port Rexton is a small town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located on the East Coast of the island of Newfoundland at the north end of Robinhood Bay, about 10 minutes east of Trinity and 3 hours north of St. John's. Trinity is a small town located on Trinity Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador. The town contains a number of buildings recognized as Registered Heritage Structures by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. History The harbour at Trinity was first used by fishing ships around the 16th century. The Portuguese explorer Gaspar Corte-Real named the location "Trinity" as he arrived on Trinity Sunday, 1501 although another account gives his arrival as 1500. Fishermen from the West Country of England began using Trinity as a summer station in the migratory fishery in the 1570s. Summer fishermen continued to be primarily from the Channel Islands, especially Jersey, and Weymouth in Dorset until a permanent settlement was established.
