Trinity Bay (Texas)
Trinity Bay is the northeast portion of Galveston Bay, bordered by Chambers and Harris counties in Texas, United States. The bay, approximately long, heads at the mouth of the Trinity River. Trinity Bay is separated from the main part of Galveston Bay by the San Jacinto River, part of the Houston Ship Channel. Trinity Bay fronts on the vast network of Chambers County marshes and prairie land. The Trinity Basin contributes 54% of the total bay system inflow for the Galveston Bay complex. Near the head of the bay sits the town of Anahuac. Closer to the San Jacinto river lies the community of Beach City. The city of Baytown also lies near the bay although it does not actually reach its shores. Some smaller communities hug the shores of the bay as well. San Jacinto River (Texas)
The San Jacinto River ( , ) flows through southeast Texas. It is named after Saint Hyacinth. In the past, it was home to the Karankawa and Akokisa tribes. The river begins with a west and east fork; the west fork begins in Walker County, to the west of Huntsville, and flows southeast through Montgomery County, where it is dammed to create Lake Conroe. The east fork begins in San Jacinto County, a few miles west of Lake Livingston, then flows south through Cleveland. The confluence of the west and east forks occurs in northeast Harris County, where the river is dammed to create Lake Houston. Continuing southward, the river merges with Buffalo Bayou before the mouth of Galveston Bay, forming part of the Houston Ship Channel. Atlas Air Flight 3591
Atlas Air Flight 3591 was a scheduled domestic cargo flight under the Amazon Air banner between Miami International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. On February 23, 2019, the Boeing 767, Boeing 767-375ER(BCF) used for this flight crashed into Trinity Bay (Texas), Trinity Bay during approach into Houston, killing the two crew members and single passenger on board. The accident occurred near Anahuac, Texas, east of Houston, shortly before 12:45 Central Standard Time, CST (18:45 Coordinated Universal Time, UTC). This was the first fatal crash of a Boeing 767 freighter. Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge
The Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is a wildlife conservation area along the coast of Texas (USA), west of the town of High Island, Texas. It borders East Bay, part of the Galveston Bay complex, behind Bolivar Peninsula at the Gulf of Mexico. Established in 1963, this wildlife refuge is located on the upper Texas Coast in Chambers County. The refuge protects approximately of coastal marsh and prairies. The refuge offers opportunities for fishing, waterfowl hunting, paddling, and wildlife viewing. A large network of volunteers contributes thousands of hours in support of the refuge. In the winter, the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge hosts large concentrations of waterfowl making it a popular site for public hunting. Baytown, Texas
Baytown is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Harris and Chambers counties. Located in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area, it lies on the northern side of the Galveston Bay complex near the outlets of the San Jacinto River and Buffalo Bayou. Beach City, Texas
Beach City is a U.S. city in Chambers County, Texas. The population was 3,221 at the 2020 census. It can now be considered as a part of Greater Houston. Geography Beach City is located in western Chambers County at (29.702527, –94.862789), extending for along the northwest shore of Trinity Bay. The city is southeast to east of Baytown. The Houston Ship Channel, in Houston, Texas, is part of the Port of Houston, one of the busiest seaports in the world.
