Trimble High School (Glouster, Ohio)
Trimble High School (THS) is a public high school in Glouster, Ohio, located in Athens County in southeast Ohio. It is the only high school (grades 9–12) in the Trimble Local School District. The school district serves the residents of Glouster, Jacksonville, and Trimble. The school mascot is a tomcat and the school colors are red, white, and gray. Brief history At the start of the 1964-65 school year Glouster High School and Jacksonville-Trimble (known as J-T) High School consolidated. From 1964 until 1973 the school was known as Glouster High School. In 1971, the first K-8 classes were held at the new elementary school that opened just outside Jacksonville in Trimble Township. Beginning two years later, in fall of 1973 and lasting until spring of 1987, Grades K-4 and 9-12 were housed in the Jacksonville building while Grades 5-8 were housed in the older Glouster building. The nearby mining pit was recently closed, with active operations moved to the east of Burr Oak State Park, but the loading station is still at the old site because of the location of the railroad. The Trimble high school and middle school provide some local employment, as does Frog Ranch Foods, anHocking-Athens-Perry Community Action Programs(HAPCAP). Trimble Township is one of the fourteen townships of Athens County, Ohio, United States. The 2010 census found 4,480 people in the township, 1,818 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township. Marion Local High School is a public high school located in Maria Stein, Ohio. It currently has approximately 286 students enrolled. The students are from several surrounding communities, including Cassella, St. Rose, Osgood, Chickasaw, St. Sebastian, Yorkshire, and Maria Stein. These communities were served by a series of local one-room school houses that still stand in Chickasaw, St. Rose, St. Sebastian and Minster. In 1922 a 2-year high school was established in Maria Stein and in 1930 a 3-story brick school (named St. John's School) was completed directly across from St. John's Church. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played.
