Triennial 2019
The Triennial 2019, entitled ''Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival,'' was the 22nd Triennial held in Milan from 1 March 2019 to 1 September 2019 at the . It was sanctioned by the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) on 12 June 2018. The exhibition that gives the event its name and theme was curated by Paola Antonelli with Ala Tannir, Laura Maeran, and Erica Petrillo. The international participations were solicited via official governmental channels. The thematic exhibition ''Broken Nature'' consisted of three major commissions as well as numerous loans. An ambitious public program of events––with conferences, panels, workshops, screenings, and performances–– complemented the XXII Triennale. There were 21 participating countries. XXIII Triennale Di Milano
The XXIII Triennale di Milano was, as its name suggests, the 23rd Milan Triennial, and was the 19th held in Milan itself. Planning Three symposia were planned to define the theme and identify a curator for this triennial. The first took place on 4 March 2020, and was streamed live to the public. The second symposium ''The Earth seen from the Moon'' which had been scheduled for 4 June 2020 but was postponed in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and then took place in the and remotely on 11 June 2020. It discussed current global challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic. The third was scheduled for the 11 July and was to consider social justice and equal rights. Approval The BIE have approved the fair to run from May 20 May to 20 November 2022 with a theme of ''Unknown Unknowns. What we don’t know we don’t know''. The Bureau international des expositions (BIE; English: International Bureau of Expositions) is an intergovernmental organization created to supervise international exhibitions (also known as expos or world expos) falling under the jurisdiction of the ''Convention Relating to International Exhibitions''. Paola Antonelli
Paola Antonelli (born 1963 in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy) is an Italian author, editor, architect, and curator. She is currently the Senior Curator of the Department of Architecture & Design as well as the Director of R&D at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York City. Antonelli was recognized with an AIGA Medal in 2015 for "expanding the influence of design in everyday life by sharing fresh and incisive observations and curating provocative exhibitions at MoMA". She was rated one of the one hundred most powerful people in the world of art by ''Art Review'' and ''Surface Magazine''. Although a recipient of a laurea degree in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano university in 1990, she has never worked as an architect.
