Thrissur (), formerly Trichur, also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur, is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. Sudha Ragunathan is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer and composer. She was conferred the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1994, Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2015) by the Government of India, and Sangeetha Kalanidhi by Madras Music Academy in 2013. Padmavathy Ananthagopalan (born 12 July 1934) is a classical musician and veena maestro from India, in the Carnatic Music genre. She also plays the mridangam and the nagaswaram. She has seven decades of experience in playing the veena. She is known for her own unique "''gayaki''" style, and she has long been a major advocate for the ''guru-shishya'' (gurukula) tradition. Bombay Sisters
The Bombay sisters, C. Saroja (b. 7 December 1936) and C. Lalitha (b. 26 August 1938), are a Carnatic music singing duo. Early life The Bombay Sisters, C. Saroja and C. Lalitha, were born in Trichur, Kerala to Mukthambal and N. Chidambaram Iyer. The sisters were brought up in Bombay. Saroja and Lalitha had their education in the S.I.E.S Matunga, passed their intermediate privately from Bhopal, M.P. and completed their graduation from Delhi University. They had their musical training with H. A. S. Mani, Musiri Subramania Iyer and T. K. Govinda Rao. After they were groomed in Carnatic Music in Mumbai, the sisters moved to Chennai.
