Tribalistas
Tribalistas (Brazilian Portuguese: /tɾibaˈlistɐs, -ˈliʃtɐʃ/) is a Brazilian supergroup consisting of Arnaldo Antunes (ex-Titãs), Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown (Timbalada). Their debut collaboration resulted in the popular album '' Tribalistas'', released in Brazil in late 2002 by EMI and in international territories in 2003. The album attained considerable popularity despite the group never performing any song on TV or giving any radio interviews. A DVD release featuring the 'making of' and all the tracks on the album was also released internationally. The song "Já Sei Namorar" was featured in the video game FIFA Football 2004 and the song "Velha Infancia" was used as part of the soundtrack of the Brazilian soap opera ''Mulheres Apaixonadas''. In May 2013, it was announced that the three members would release a song called "Joga Arroz" (Throw Rice), in order to express their support of same-sex marriage, though it was not referred to as a revival of the band. ''Tribalistas'' is the debut album by Brazilian musical trio Tribalistas, consisting of Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes and Carlinhos Brown. The 13-track album was released worldwide in 2002. The album sold over a million copies in Brazil alone, despite the group never performing any song on TV or giving any radio interviews. The album also achieved considerable success in Europe; it was the best-selling album of the year in Portugal and it went triple platinum in Italy and double platinum in Spain. The album also charted in Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, France, among other countries. The album received five Latin Grammy Music Award nomination in 2003 (winning Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album), in addition to a BBC Awards for World Music nomination in 2004. Carlinhos Brown
Antônio Carlos Santos de Freitas, known professionally as Carlinhos Brown (Brazilian Portuguese: /kaʁˈlĩɲus bɾaw̃, -iɲuʃ/, 23 November 1962), is a Brazilian singer, percussionist, and record producer from Salvador, Bahia. His musical style blends funk, latin music, R&B, soul music, reggae, and traditional Brazilian percussion. Early life He was born in Candeal Pequeno, a neighborhood in the Brotas area of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, to Renato and Madalena. In 1967 he was still a child when Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, two 25-year-old musicians from Bahia, started Tropicália, which would radically change Brazilian music. Marisa de Azevedo Monte (Brazilian Portuguese: /maˈɾizɐ dʒi azeˈvedu ˈmõtʃi/) (born 1 July 1967) is a Brazilian singer, composer, instrumentalist, and producer of Brazilian popular music and samba. As of 2011, she had sold 10 million albums worldwide and has won numerous national and international awards, including four Latin Grammys, seven Brazilian MTV Video Music Awards, nine Multishow de Música Brasileira awards, 5 APCAs, and six Prêmio TIM de Música. Arnaldo Antunes
Arnaldo Antunes (, born Arnaldo Augusto Nora Antunes Filho, September 2, 1960) is a Brazilian musician, writer, and composer. He was a member of the rock band Titãs, which he co-founded in 1982 and left ten years later. After 1992, he embarked on a solo career. He has published poetry and had his first book published in 1983. He has worked with Marisa Monte, Tribalistas, and Carlinhos Brown. Childhood Arnaldo was born on September 2, 1960, to Arnaldo Augusto Nora Antunes and Dora Leme Ferreira. He was the fourth of seven children.
