Trevor Marsicano
Trevor Marsicano (born April 5, 1989) is an American speed skater and silver medalist in the Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Marsicano won a silver medal for his part in the team pursuit. He did not skate in the final but did skate in the quarterfinals with Chad Hedrick and Jonathan Kuck. Marsicano's breakthrough performance was at the 2009 World Single Distance Championships where he won four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze). Overall, Marsicano has won two golds, one silver, and two bronze at the World Championships. Marsicano has also won the overall bronze at the World Junior Championships. Career Marsicano started playing ice hockey, but switched to short track speed skating at a young age with the Saratoga Winter Club. Schenectady, New York
Schenectady () is a city in Schenectady County, New York, United States, of which it is the county seat. As of the 2020 census, the city's population of 67,047 made it the state's ninth-largest city by population. The city is in eastern New York, near the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson rivers. Pekka Koskela
Pekka Koskela (born 29 November 1982) is a Finnish speed skater, specialising on the sprint distances 500 m and 1000 m. He is the former world record holder on the 1000 m with the time 1:07.00. In December 2001 he set a junior world record on the 500 m with the time 35.89. Since that time he has established himself as one of the best speed skating sprinters in the world. He won his first medal, a bronze, on the 1000 m in the 2005 World Single Distance Championships. Koskela was number 10 in the 500 m of the 2006 Winter Olympics. Koskela was one of the two dominating skaters at the 2007 World Sprint Championship in Vikingskipet, Hamar. He won both 500 metres, and set a rink record with 34.80, and was leading the proceedings up to the last distance, where he lost the world championship title to Lee Kyou-hyuk. Brian Hansen (speed Skater)
Brian Hansen (born September 3, 1990, in Evanston, Illinois) is an American speed skater and silver medalist in the Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Hansen won a silver medal in the team pursuit along with Jonathan Kuck, Chad Hedrick and Trevor Marsicano. Hansen has also won a two medals in the World Single Distance Championships and four medals (two gold, three silver, one bronze) in the World Junior Championships. As of February 2018, Hansen holds the 13th position on the men's Adelskalender big combination. Shani Davis
Shani Earl Davis (; born August 13, 1982) is an American former speed skater. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Davis became the first African American athlete to win a gold medal in an individual event at the Olympic Winter Games, winning the speedskating 1000 meter event. He also won a silver medal in the 1500 meter event. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he repeated the feat, becoming the first man to successfully defend the 1000 meters and repeating as the 1500 meter silver medalist. Davis won the silver medal at the 2004 World Allround Speed Skating Championships. He then proceeded to win the World Allround Championships in both 2005 and 2006. Denny Morrison
Denny Morrison (born September 8, 1985) is a Canadian speedskater from Fort St. John, British Columbia. He is an Olympic champion as a member of Canada's men's team pursuit, an event which he also won silver in at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Morrison won his first individual Olympic medal in Sochi when he won a silver in the men's 1000 m after teammate Gilmore Junio selflessly gave up his spot in order for Morrison, who fell at the national qualification event, failed to originally qualify. He won a second individual medal at those games, a bronze in the 1500 m. With four total Olympic medals, Morrison shares the record for the most medals of any Canadian male long track speed skaters along with Gaétan Boucher. Primarily a middle distance skater in the 1000 and 1500 m events, he held the world record time of 1:42.01 from March 14, 2008, to March 6, 2009, in the 1500 m. Richmond Olympic Oval
The Richmond Olympic Oval (french: Anneau olympique de Richmond) is an indoor multi-sports arena in the Canadian city of Richmond, British Columbia. The oval was built for the 2010 Winter Olympics and was originally configured with a speed skating rink. The venue has since been reconfigured and now serves as a community multi-sport park and includes two ice hockey rinks, two running tracks, a climbing wall, a rowing tank and a flexible area which can be used for, among other sports, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and table tennis. The Olympic bid called for the oval to be located on the grounds of Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, but Richmond was instead selected in 2004. Enrico Fabris
Enrico Fabris (born 5 October 1981) is an Italian former long track speed skater who has won three World Cup races and became the first European Allround Champion from Italy when he won the 2006 European Championships one month before the Winter Olympics in Turin. In 2007 he won also the silver medal and in 2008 the bronze medal. Fabris is also a six-time Italian Allround Champion. Career At the 2006 Olympics he won a bronze medal in the men's 5,000 m event, Italy's first-ever Olympic medal in speed skating. Five days later, he was in the winning team on the team pursuit event, to claim Italy's first Olympic speed skating gold. Håvard Bøkko
Håvard Bøkko (; born 2 February 1987) is a Norwegian former speed skater, and the premier skater from his country since 2008, with 32 national championships and thirteen international medals. He had junior results similar to those of Sven Kramer, Gianni Romme and Eric Heiden from the early 1980s before the clap skate. He is the older brother of Hege Bøkko. Speed skating career In 2006, Bøkko was the Junior World Champion, winning the three longest distances. In the European Speedskating Championships he won the bronze in 2006, was no. 4 in 2007, and caught the silver in 2008 and 2009 (on both occasions trailing Sven Kramer).
