Trevor Leo
Trevor John Leo (born 1936) is a former Australian rules footballer from Tasmania who played during the 1950s and 1960s and was chosen at state representative level. Rover Trevor Leo came to Hobart from Cooee where he was a Best and fairest winner. He made his Hobart debut in 1954 and was a member of their premiership side that year as well as in 1959 and 1960. His greatest individual achievement as a player was winning the William Leitch Medal in 1957 and he also won two Best and fairests while at Hobart. In 1962 he was captain-coach of Launceston. Leo joined New Norfolk in 1963 and was immediately appointed their captain-coach. In 1968 he steered the club to their inaugural TANFL/TFL premiership and also the Tasmanian State Premiership. He retired as a player following his 1968 triumphs but stayed on as coach for one more year. In 1974 he returned to Hobart where he was coach for the season. Cooee Football Club
Burnie Dockers Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia. The club currently competes in the North West Football League (NWFL). Club history The Burnie Dockers were formed as a result of a merger between former TFL Statewide League club Burnie Hawks (formerly known as Cooee) and NTFL club the Burnie Tigers. After several years of bitter hatred in the city between the two rival clubs, both clubs were struggling both on-field and financially by the early 1990s. In late 1993 the Burnie Hawks absorbed the Burnie Tigers and merged, however the club still played as the Burnie Hawks until, with the arrival of former North Melbourne champion Peter German, the club adopted a new emblem, colours and jumper designed to appease both sides of the divide. Cooee! () is a shout originated in Australia to attract attention, find missing people, or indicate one's own location. When done correctly—loudly and shrilly—a call of "cooee" can carry over a considerable distance. The distance one's cooee call travels can be a matter of competitive pride. It is also known as a call of help, distinct amongst the natural sounds of the bush. The word "cooee" originates from the Dharug language of Aboriginal Australians in the Sydney area. Hobart Football Club (nicknamed The Tigers) is an Australian rules football club based in Hobart, Tasmania. They play their home fixtures at the TCA Ground on the Queens Domain, in Hobart and from 2014, the club has been a member of the Southern Football League after voting to withdraw from the Tasmanian State League at the end of the 2013 season after five seasons in that competition.
