Trevor Harvey (conductor)
Trevor Harvey (1911—1989) was an English conductor. Biography Trevor Harvey was born in 1911 in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. He was a conductor, critic, and broadcaster. From 1935 to 1942 he worked as assistant chorus master at the BBC (in 1941 he conducted the BBC Singers and John Ireland performing ''Spring, the Sweet Spring'', ''A Cradle Song'', ''Variations on Cadet Rousselle'', ''When May is in His Prime'', ''Fain Would I Change That Note'', ''A New Year Carol''; the same Ireland dedicated ''The Holy Boy: A Carol of the Nativity'' to Harvey). From 1946 he was a free‐lance conductor. From 1951 to 1973 he was the conductor of Sir Robert Mayer children's concerts. From 1960 to 1972 he was with the British Youth Symphony Orchestra. Peter Pears
Sir Peter Neville Luard Pears ( ; 22 June 19103 April 1986) was an English tenor. His career was closely associated with the composer Benjamin Britten, his personal and professional partner for nearly forty years. Pears' musical career started slowly. He was at first unsure whether to concentrate on playing piano and organ, or singing; it was not until he met Britten in 1937 that he threw himself wholeheartedly into singing. Once he and Britten were established as a partnership, the composer wrote many concert and operatic works with Pears's voice in mind, and the singer played roles in more than ten operas by Britten. In the concert hall, Pears and Britten were celebrated recitalists, known in particular for their performances of lieder by Schubert and Schumann. Together they recorded most of the works written for Pears by Britten, as well as a wide range of music by other composers. Basil Douglas
Basil Douglas (1914 – 25 October 1992) was a Scottish music administrator and agent. Biography Basil Douglas was born in 1914. At first his dream was to become a professional singer but health issues prevented this goal. From 1935 to 1938 he shared a flat with Peter Pears and Trevor Harvey at 105 Charlotte Street, London. From 1936 to 1951 Douglas was a member of the BBC music staff and originated the popular series ''Music in Miniature''. From 1951 to 1957, Basil Douglas was the General Manager of the English Opera Group. Benjamin Britten
Edward Benjamin Britten, Baron Britten (22 November 1913 – 4 December 1976, aged 63) was an English composer, conductor, and pianist. He was a central figure of 20th-century British music, with a range of works including opera, other vocal music, orchestral and chamber pieces. His best-known works include the opera '' Peter Grimes'' (1945), the '' War Requiem'' (1962) and the orchestral showpiece ''The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra'' (1945).
