Trevor Barsby
Trevor John Barsby (born 16 January 1964, in Brisbane), nicknamed "Tank" is a former Australian first class cricketer who played for Queensland. Barsby was an aggressive batsman, usually opening and often with Matthew Hayden. He is one of a select group of players to have appeared in 100 Sheffield Shield games for Queensland. This milestone was reached in his last game, the 1996/97 Shield Final. Queensland won the game and their second Shield, Barsby had played a large part in their inaugural championship win two seasons prior with an innings of 151 in the final against South Australi Trevor has been recognised for his contribution to Queensland cricket with the Trevor Barsby Oval located at Deagon, Brisbane named in his honour He was the Queensland Bulls coach from 2008 until 2010. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Matthew Lawrence Hayden (born 29 October 1971) is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer. His career spanned fifteen years. Hayden was a powerful and aggressive left-handed batting order (cricket)#opening batsman, opening batsman, who along with opening partners, Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist contributed heavily to Australia's success during its "golden era" (2004-2011) in Test cricket, Test and One Day International, ODI (One Day International) cricket respectively. Jemma Louise Barsby (born 4 October 1995) is an Australian cricketer who plays for Queensland Fire and Adelaide Strikers (WBBL), Adelaide Strikers. An all-rounder who can bowl with both hands, Barsby is the daughter of former Queensland cricket team, Queensland Bulls opening batsman and coach Trevor Barsby. The Brisbane Heat (WBBL) are an Australian women's Twenty20 cricket team based in Albion, Queensland. The Heat compete in the Women's Big Bash League and have won two championships, winning back-to-back titles across WBBL04 and WBBL05.
