Trevor Barker
Trevor Graeme Barker (7 October 1956 – 26 April 1996) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). One of the VFL's pin-up boys with his teen-idol appearance, blonde hair and suntanned skin, "Barks" was one of the finest high-marking players of his era; and, although of slight build, his skill and athleticism were matched by raw courage and competitiveness. More than any other player before or since, he was the living embodiment of St Kilda's club motto ''Fortius quo fidelius'' (strength through loyalty), staying with his beloved club through the toughest period in its history despite receiving better offers from other clubs. He currently holds the VFL/AFL record for the most career games without playing in a final, followed by teammate Geoff Cunningham. Hampton, Victoria
Hampton is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Bayside local government area. The 1975 VFL season was the 79th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. St Kilda FC
The St Kilda Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier league. The club's name originates from its original home base in the bayside Melbourne suburb of St Kilda in which the club was established in 1873. The club also has strong links to the south-eastern suburb of Moorabbin, due to it being the long-standing location of their training ground. Mike Patterson (footballer)
Michael Forster Patterson (7 January 194116 April 2002) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. Affectionately known as the "Swamp Fox", Patterson was a premiership ruckman with the Richmond Football Club in 1967, and also captain/coach of the 1972 Australian Champions, the North Adelaide Football Club. Richmond Patterson played for the Richmond Football Club between 1959 and 1969. When first choice ruck Neville Crowe was suspended for the 1967 grand final Patterson stepped up brilliantly to compete with legendary ruckman Polly Farmer and made a major contribution to Richmond's 9-point victory. Kevin O'Keeffe (footballer)
Kevin O'Keeffe (born 22 October 1952) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the VFL during the 1970s. O'Keeffe, a half back, represented Victoria in an interstate match against Western Australia at the 1975 Knockout Carnival. In the same year, while playing for Fitzroy, he accidentally collided with Footscray's Neil Sachse, leaving Sachse a quadriplegic. In 1980 he transferred to East Perth where he played for two seasons before making an unsuccessful comeback with Fitzroy. Rod Ashman
Rodney Ashman (born 3 December 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Playing primarily in the forward pocket, Ashman was a member of Carlton's famous "Mosquito Fleet" which was pivotal to the club's success in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He played in back-to-back premierships in 1981 and 1982. Ashman's courageous style of play saw him suffer frequent concussion. After getting concussed several times in the space of a month, Ashman wore a helmet for the rest of his career. Although he didn't like it, he realised its value in a match against where he got kicked in the head, but was protected by the helmet. When he suffered a stroke in May 2010, Ashman wondered whether it was the result of one of those concussions he sustained during his playing days. Trevor Barker Medal
The Trevor Barker Award is an Australian rules football award for the player voted the St Kilda Football Club best and fairest player during the home and away season in the Australian Football League by a voting panel. The St Kilda Best & Fairest Award was first inaugurated in 1914. It was re-named the Trevor Barker Award in the 1990's, in honour of St Kilda Hall of Fame Legend, Australian Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Club Captain, dual Best & Fairest Winner and Reserves Coach, Trevor Barker, who died in 1996 aged 39. Allan Jeans
Allan Lindsay Jeans (21 September 1933 – 13 July 2011) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. He was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame at its inception in 1996. Jeans was known for his oratory and motivation skills as a coach and led St Kilda and Hawthorn to a total of four premierships. AFL career Allan Jeans was recruited to St.Kilda after playing in Finley Football Club's 1954 Murray Football League (MFL) senior premiership, and he was also runner up in the 1954 MFL O’Dwyer Medal. After a modest 77-game playing career with the St Kilda Football Club (1955–1959), Jeans, known as "Yabby", took the reins of the Saints in 1961 for a remarkable 16-year career as senior coach.
