Treschow (noble Family)
Treschow is a family originating in Denmark and with branches in Norway and Sweden. The family name means "wooden shoe-maker" and the family later counted many merchants in the 17th century and priests in the 18th century. A member of the family, Michael Treschow, bought the status of untitled (lower) nobility in Denmark in 1812, although Norway, where he was resident, abolished the concept of nobility only a few years later. Members of this family have been industrialists and landowners, notably in Vestfold. General history Origin The family may be followed back to Niels Hansen († 1593), who lived in Næstved, Denmark. His son was Rasmus Nielsen Træskomager († 1633). He and many of his descendants were merchants. His son Giort Rasmussen Treschow (ca. 1623–1665) was a shipowner and a merchant. Mille-Marie Treschow (3 April 1954 – 29 September 2018) was a Norwegian landlord and businessperson. She was known for her previous marriage to Stein Erik Hagen, well known as "Rimi-Hagen", being the former owner of the Rimi chain of low-cost discount stores. Frederik Conrad Bugge Treschow (31 December 1822 – 22 August 1893) was a Danish publisher. Early life and education Treshow was born in Copenhagen Copenhagen ( or .; da, København ) is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a proper population of around 815.000 in the last quarter of 2022; and some 1.370,000 in the urban area; and the wider Copenhagen metropolitan ar ..., the son of clerk in chatolkassen Andreas Treshow (1794–1846) and Anna Maria Wendel (l) (1797–1864). Michael Treschow
Niels Michael Aage Treschow (born April 22, 1943) is a Swedish businessman. As chairman of the board of both Unilever since 2007 and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, and former chairman of Ericsson, Treschow is one of the most influential people in Swedish business today. Early life Michael Treschow was born on April 22, 1943, in Helsingborg, Skåne län, Sweden. His father was a major in the Swedish Army. Treschow graduated with a degree in engineering from Lund University. Career Treschow started his career at Atlas Copco, where he eventually became CEO. Later, he served as CEO of Electrolux. Frederik Treschow (1786–1869)
Vilhelm Frederik Treschow (15 September 1786 – 2 April 1869) was a Danish supreme court attorney, politician, landowner and philanthropist. He founded Treschows Stiftelse in Copenhagen. Early life and education Frederik Treschow was born in Copenhagen to Supreme Court justice Michael Treschow (1741–1816) and Christina E. Wasserfall (1753–1823). He graduated from Roskilde Cathedral School in Roskilde in 1803 after initially attending the Metropolitan School in Copenhagen. He studied law at the University of Copenhagen under the guidance of Anders Sandøe Ørsted and graduated in 1806. Career He worked for the court, , from 1909 and became a supreme court attorney in 1811. Treschow was considered one of the best barristers of his generation.
