Treni Regionali Ticino Lombardia
TILO ( it, Treni Regionali Ticino Lombardia) is a limited company established in 2004 as a joint venture between Italian railway company Trenord and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS); both companies participate in the equity of TILO SA with participation of 50%. The company's goal is to develop the regional cross-border traffic between the canton of Ticino and the Region of Lombardy. In 2009 the company carried 6 million passengers. Most traveled along the Como ↔ Chiasso ↔ Mendrisio ↔ Lugano ↔ Bellinzona ↔ Biasca (S10) and Bellinzona ↔ Locarno routes (S20), served by trains every 30 minutes (every 15 minutes on average at peak times). Line S30 Bellinzona ↔ Luino is served every 2 hours, with a single daily train continuing to Busto Arsizio. The staff that runs the trains in Italy is supplied by Trenord, and by Swiss Federal Railways for the trains running in Switzerland. Locarno Railway Station
Locarno railway station ( it, Stazione di Locarno) serves the city of Locarno, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. However, the station is located within the adjacent municipality of Muralto, near the shore of Lake Maggiore. The border between the two municipalities runs along the Torrente Ramogna stream, a short distance to the south and west of the station. Since 1990, Locarno station has been divided into two distinct components, each served by a separately operated railway. Como San Giovanni Railway Station
Como San Giovanni railway station ( it, Stazione di Como San Giovanni) is the main station serving the city and ''comune'' of Como, in the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Opened in 1875, it forms part of the Milan–Chiasso railway, and is also a terminus of the Como–Lecco railway, which branches off the main line a few kilometres (miles) to the south, at Albate-Camerlata. Como San Giovanni is the last Italian station on the line to Chiasso, and therefore fulfils the functions of a border station. However, border checks have not been carried out there since 2008, when Switzerland joined the Schengen Agreement. Chiasso railway station ( it, Stazione di Chiasso) is a station owned by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS). It serves the town of Chiasso, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland, and is also a border station between Switzerland and Italy. The station is both the southern terminus of the Gotthard railway (owned and operated by SBB CFF FFS), and the northern terminus of the Milan–Chiasso railway (owned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and operated by Trenitalia). Lugano railway station ( it, Stazione di Lugano) is the main railway station of the city of Lugano, in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The station is on the Gotthard railway and is also the terminus of the Lugano Città–Stazione funicular. The metre gauge Lugano–Ponte Tresa Railway (FLP) has a separate station at Lugano FLP railway station across the station forecourt from the main line station. Biasca Railway Station
Biasca railway station ( it, Stazione di Biasca) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Ticino and municipality of Biasca. The station is on the original line of the Swiss Federal Railways Gotthard railway, at the foot of the southern ramp up to the Gotthard Tunnel.The line through the Gotthard Base Tunnel, now used by most trains on the Gotthard route, diverges from the existing line to the south of Biasca station (but before Osogna), passing on the surface to the west of the town before entering the tunnel proper at Bodio.
