Trempealeau County (, ) is a County (United States), county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 30,760. Its county seat is Whitehall, Wisconsin, Whitehall. Many people of Hispanic, Polish, Norwegian and German descent live in this area. History Patches of woodland are all that remain of the brush and light forest that once covered the county. In ancient times, the woodlands contained a great deal of timber, but Native Americans in the United States, Native Americans burned them periodically to encourage the growth of berries. They did little cultivation and had been almost completely removed from the area by 1837. French fur traders were the first Europeans to enter this land, traveling by river across the county. Arcadia Free Public Library
The Arcadia Free Public Library is a Carnegie library serving Arcadia, Wisconsin, Arcadia, Wisconsin. The city's library service was established in 1899 through a donation from State Senator Levi Withee and was originally based in the city hall. The Carnegie Corporation of New York, Carnegie Foundation funded a library building for the city in 1905, and the library was built the following year. The building was designed by Diedrik A. Omeyer in the Classical Revival architecture, Classical Revival style. The library still serves the city; as it is located across the street from Arcadia's Arcadia High School (Wisconsin), high school and elementary school, it has extensively served both schools throughout its history. Interstate 94 (I-94) is an east–west Interstate Highway connecting the Great Lakes and northern Great Plains regions of the United States. Winona County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, its population was 49,671. Its county seat is Winona. Winona County comprises the Winona, MN Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The Wisconsin Territory was established by the federal government effective July 3, 1836, and existed until its eastern portion was granted statehood (as Wisconsin) in 1848. The federal government set up the Minnesota Territory effective March 3, 1849. The newly organized territorial legislature created nine counties across the territory in October of that year. The county took its name from the Eau Claire River.
