Treichville
Treichville is a neighborhood in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is one of the 10 urban communes of the city. Treichville is one of four communes of Abidjan that are entirely south of Ébrié Lagoon, the others being Port-Bouët, Koumassi, and Marcory. Treichville is known as one of the most lively neighborhoods in Abidjan, especially around the ''Crossroad France-Amérique''. The streets in Treichville do not have names but are numbered from 1 to 47. The commune is served by a railway station belonging to the RAN. The railway offers a passenger service to Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso, which takes around 30 hours. The Autonomous Port of Abidjan is located in Treichville. Treichville's name comes from Marcel Treich-Laplène (1860–1890), who was a French resident in Ivory Coast. Abidjan
Abidjan ( , ; N'Ko script, N’ko: ߊߓߌߖߊ߲߬) is the economic capital of the Ivory Coast. As of the Demographics of Ivory Coast, 2021 census, Abidjan's population was 6.3 million, which is 21.5 percent of overall population of the country, making it the sixth most populous city proper in Africa, after Lagos, Cairo, Kinshasa, Dar es Salaam, and Johannesburg. Communes Of Ivory Coast
The communes of Ivory Coast are a fifth-level administrative unit of administration in Ivory Coast. The sub-prefectures of Ivory Coast contain villages, and in select instances more than one village is combined into a commune. There are currently 197 communes in the 510 sub-prefectures. Prior to 2011, communes were the third-level administrative units of the country. Under the administration of Laurent Gbagbo, the number of communes grew to more than 1300. In 2011, a reorganization of the country's subdivisions was undertaken, with a goal of decentralizing the state. As part of the reorganization, communes were converted from third-level divisions into fifth-level divisions. Port-Bouët is a suburb of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is one of the 10 urban communes of the city. Port-Bouët is one of four communes of Abidjan that are entirely south of Ébrié Lagoon, the others being Treichville, Koumassi, and Marcory. Port-Bouët had not been inhabited until around 1930. The Autonomous Port of Abidjan is a commercial port at Treichville, in southern Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is a transshipment and intermodal facility and is managed as a public industrial and commercial establishment; the Director-General is Hien Sié. The Port of Abidjan opened in 1951 after the development of the Vridi Canal, which enables deep-sea ships to use the port. François Amichia
François Albert Amichia (born 4 October 1952 in Abidjan) is an Ivorian politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire - African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA). He was the mayor of Treichville and held the post of sports minister and the minister of tourism. Since 2018 he is minister for cities and urban development. The 2010–11 Ivorian crisis was a political crisis in Ivory Coast which began after Laurent Gbagbo, the President of Ivory Coast since 2000, was proclaimed the winner of the Ivorian election of 2010, the first election in the country in 10 years. The opposition candidate, Alassane Ouattara, and a number of countries, organisations and leaders worldwide claimed Ouattara had won the election. After months of attempted negotiation and sporadic violence, the crisis entered a decisive stage as Ouattara's forces began a military offensive in which they quickly gained control of most of the country and besieged key targets in Abidjan, the country's largest city.
