Treharris Athletic Western F.C. is a Association football, football club from Treharris in south Wales who play in the Ardal Leagues South West. Their home ground is based in Parc Taf Bargoed in the neighbouring village, Trelewis. History The original Treharris club was formed in 1889 as one of the earliest association football clubs based in south Wales and founding members of the South Wales League - a predecessor of the Welsh Football League - in 1890. The Treharris club were one of the foremost association football sides in south Wales in the two decades before the First World War, winning the inaugural South Wales League title in 1891, adding further triumphs in 1905 and 1906. Trelewis
Trelewis is a small village in the Taff Bargoed Valley of south-east Wales, currently located in the southern part of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. It is a former mining village and together with nearby Bedlinog was until 1974 part of the Gelligaer Urban District Council area of the county of Glamorgan. The villages name means 'Lewis Town' and was named after the Lewis family who owned a farm on the area where the village is now built. It is in the community of Bedlinog. 1906–07 Western Football League
The 1906–07 season was the 15th in the history of the Western Football League. Division One was split into two sections of six clubs, with the winner of each section playing each other in a Championship decider. Fulham won Section A and West Ham United won Section B, with West Ham winning the decider 1–0. Fulham left the league at the end of the season as they were elected to the Football League for 1907–08. Chelsea, who made their first and only appearance in the league this season, were competing in the Football League at the same time. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The 1909–10 season was the 18th in the history of the Western Football League. After Division One was scrapped at the end of the previous season, the members clubs all having resigned to concentrate on the Southern League, the Western League became a single-division league for the first time since the inaugural 1892–93 season.
