Trebel (river)
The Trebel is a river in Western Pomerania, a region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, some 75 kilometers long. The Poggendorf Trebel (german: Poggendorfer Trebel; source Klein Zarnewanz) and ''Beek'' (source in Wittenhagen) are the sources of the river and merge in Grimmen. The Trebel then runs near Quitzin, merges with the ''Blinde Trebel'' near Franzburg, is connected to the Recknitz River by a ditch near Tribsees, merges with the Warbel River near Bassendorf (part of Deyelsdorf), then constitutes the historical border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania, and merges into the Peene River near Demmin. ''Ibitzgraben'', ''Ibitzbach'', and ''Roter Brückengraben'' are ditches connecting the Trebel and Peene rivers near their confluence. Peene
The Peene () is a river in Germany. Geography The Westpeene, with the Ostpeene as its longer tributary, and the Kleine Peene/Teterower Peene (with a ''Peene '' without specification (or ''Nordpeene'') as its smaller and shorter affluent) flows into Kummerower See (Lake Kummerow), and from there as Peene proper to Anklam and into the Oder Lagoon. The western branch of the Oder River, which separates the island of Usedom from the German mainland, is often also called Peene, but actually is considered a part of the Baltic Sea called the Peenestrom. It is one of three channels connecting the Oder Lagoon with the Bay of Pomerania of the Baltic Sea. (The other channels are the Świna and the Dziwna.) Recknitz
The Recknitz (historically known as ''Raxa'') is a river in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany. The Recknitz's glacial valley stretches as far south as the heights at Glasewitz near Güstrow. The river has no definite source, but rather builds up from streams and drainage ditches. The ditches of the ''Schaalbeke'' and ''Pludderbach'' have their water flow split between Liessow and Laage, but most of the water flows north as the Recknitz, while the lesser flow, called the ''Augraben'', runs south to the river Nebel. Demmin
Demmin () is a town in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It was the capital of the former district of Demmin. Geography Demmin lies on the West Pomeranian plain at the confluence of the rivers Peene, Tollense and Trebel. Lake Kummerow and the Bay of Stettin (Oderhaff) may be reached by boat on the Peene, Neubrandenburg via Altentreptow on by-roads and cycleways. The area of the confluences of the Tollense and Trebel with the Peene are called the Three Streams Land (''Dreistromland'') for tourist purposes and borrowing from the ancient land of Zweistromland. Pomerania
Pomerania ( pl, Pomorze; german: Pommern; Kashubian: ''Pòmòrskô''; sv, Pommern) is a historical region on the southern shore of the Baltic Sea in Central Europe, split between Poland and Germany. Tribsees
Tribsees () is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated 33 km southwest of Stralsund, and 40 km east of Rostock. Etymology Tribsees derives its name from a local Slavic tribe (''Tribeden'') who inhabited the area during the early Middle Ages. History The ''Tribeden'' are mentioned for the first time in 955, and the town is mentioned in a document in Lübeck in 1241. In 1245 it is noted that the Neuenkamp monastery () had the right of patronage over the church in Tribsees. An agreement between the city council of Stralsund and that of Tribsees exists from 1267, and in 1285 the town was granted Lübeck law. The city was almost completely destroyed in a fire in 1702, but subsequently rebuilt. The city had 1040 inhabitants in 1782. Franzburg
Franzburg () is a municipality in the Vorpommern-Rügen district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated 20 km southwest of Stralsund. Before the Protestant Reformation, later Franzburg was the site of Neuenkamp Abbey. Grimmen (; csb, Grzëmié) is a town in Vorpommern-Rügen, a district in the Bundesland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Prior to 2011, when district reforms were made in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, it was the capital of the now bygone Nordvorpommern district, which was abolished and merged to create the district of Vorpommern-Rügen.
