Treasure Chest (The Seekers Album)
''Treasure Chest'' is a 3-disc box set by Australian band The Seekers. Disc one contains two new tracks and an interview. Disc two is their 1967 album, '' Seekers Seen in Green'' and disc three is their 1968 album, '' Live at the Talk of the Town''. The album peaked at number 7 in Australia and was certified gold. Reception Bruce Eder of AllMusic stated, "This triple-CD set is uneven, soaring (and scoring) high with new 1997 material and covering some important historical bases as well. he discopens with one of the finest recordings the group has ever made, 1997's "Far Shore," written by ex- Easybeats' Harry Vanda and George Young. The group also does a good ecological anthem, "Hey Hey Hey," co-written by Durham, which gets into world music territory—her voice still has the same power it displayed 30 years ago, and the group still plays and sings well. The Seekers
The Seekers were an Australian folk-influenced pop quartet, originally formed in Melbourne in 1962. They were the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were especially popular during the 1960s with their best-known configuration of Judith Durham on vocals, piano and tambourine; Athol Guy on double bass and vocals; Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar, banjo and vocals; and Bruce Woodley on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals. The group had Top 10 hits in the 1960s with "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day", "Georgy Girl (song), Georgy Girl" and "The Carnival Is Over". Bruce Woodley
Bruce William Woodley (born 25 July 1942) is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. He was a founding member of the successful folk-pop group The Seekers, and co-composer of the songs "I Am Australian," "Red Rubber Ball," and Simon & Garfunkel's " Cloudy." Early life Bruce Woodley was born on 25 July 1942 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He attended Melbourne High School with fellow Seekers, Athol Guy and Keith Potger. The Seekers Woodley had a 'residency' performing at the Treble Clef restaurant in Prahran. "Hello Mary Lou" is a song written by American singer Gene Pitney first recorded by Johnny Duncan in 1960 and in the following year by Ricky Nelson. The song was recorded by Ricky Nelson at the famous United Western Recorders Studios on 22nd March, 1961. Nelson's version, issued as a double A-side with his No. 1 hit "Travelin' Man", (Imperial 5741), reached No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' music charts on May 28, 1961. It was The Seekers' first UK-released single, and it was the second-best-selling of 1965 in the UK. The song was also popular in the United States, reaching peaks of No. 4 pop and No. 2 easy listening on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Hot 100 charts. Tom Springfield (born Dionysius Patrick O'Brien, 2 July 1934 – 27 July 2022) was an English musician, songwriter and record producer who was prominent in the 1960s folk and pop music scene. He was the older brother of singer Dusty Springfield, with whom he performed in the Springfields. Gary Osborne (born 1949 in London) is an English singer and songwriter. He chaired The Songwriters Executive of the British Academy Of Songwriters Composers and Authors for 12 years during which time he was also chairman of The Ivor Novello Awards. Keith Potger
Keith Leon Potger (born 21 March 1941) is an Australian musician. He is a founding members of the Australian folk-pop group the Seekers. He was born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and is of Burgher descent. In 1969, Potger and his business partner David Joseph co-founded the contemporary English pop group the New Seekers. Potger also records and performs as a solo artist. In September 2014, along with his colleagues in the Seekers, Potger was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
