Edwin Stanley (November 22, 1880 – December 25, 1944), was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 230 films between 1916 and 1946. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and died in Hollywood, California. On Broadway, Stanley appeared in ''This Man's Town'' (1930), ''The Marriage Bed'' (1929), and ''The Donovan Affair'' (1926). Stanley was also a playwright. John Lowell (actor)
John Lowell (April 11, 1875 - September 19, 1937) was an American film actor in starred in several productions during the silent era. He is sometimes credited as John Lowell Russell. Biography Lowell was born in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. He was married to the screenwriter Lillian Case Russell. The actress Evangeline Russell and the cinematographer John L. Russell were their children. Lowell began his film career in 1919, appearing in two shorts. He was a producer for Lowell Film Productions, whose work included '' Red Love'' (1925). On September 19, 1937, Lowell died in Los Angeles, California. Nick Cogley
Nickolas P. J. Cogley (May 4, 1869 – May 20, 1936) was an American actor, director and writer of the silent films. He appeared in more than 170 films between 1909 and 1934. Biography Cogley was born in New York, New York. He attended St. Francis Xavier College in New York. Cogley appeared in blackface in some of his roles. For example, in the Civil War film '' The Coward'' (1915) he played "A Negro Servant," and in ''Toby's Bow'' (1919) he portrayed the black servant "Uncle Toby" that gives the film its name. The use of blackface was not unusual in American silent films, and did not disappear until the 1930s when public sensibilities regarding race began to change and blackface became increasingly associated with racism and bigotry.John KenrickBlackface and Old Wounds Musicals101.com. Art Mix
Art Mix (born George Washington Kesterson; June 18, 1896 – December 7, 1972), was an American character actor from the 1920s until the mid-1940s. Biography Prior to becoming an actor, Mix worked as a circus performer and a boxer. He initially appeared under his real name, Kesterson, before being given his stage name by Victor Adamson. Adamson calculated that a cowboy named "Art Mix" would be associated somehow with western superstar Tom Mix, and that small-town exhibitors who could not afford Tom Mix's expensive films would be likely to use cheaper films marketed with the lesser "Art Mix" brand name. Contract problems led Mix to leave Adamson and begin working for producer J. Charles Davis. Art Mix appeared in over 200 film shorts and feature films. Although most of his roles were in smaller and bit parts, he would sometimes be cast in a featured role, such as in 1932's ''Border Devils'', starring Harry Carey.
