Travis Lewis
Travis Lewis (born January 15, 1988) is a former American football linebacker of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Oklahoma, and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round, 223rd overall of the 2012 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2016 offseason. Early years A native of San Antonio, Texas, Lewis attended Robert E. Lee High School, where he played football as a linebacker and running back for coach Jimmy Ramos. After switching to tailback as a senior, Lewis rushed for 1,436 yards on 222 carries (6.4 ypc) with nine touchdowns, and also caught 10 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown; for his senior season efforts, Lewis was named all-area and all-metro and was also selected to play at the 2007 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Butkus Award
The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. The award, named in honor of College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, is presented by the Butkus Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports a number of health and wellness activities including the "I Play Clean" anti-steroid program. The award was first established by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, which relinquished control of the award in 2008 following a lawsuit by Butkus. Brian Bosworth
Brian Keith Bosworth (born March 9, 1965), nicknamed "The Boz," is an American former football linebacker and actor who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. A two-time Dick Butkus Award winner during his college football career at Oklahoma, he also achieved notoriety for his outspoken comments and antics. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948.
