Trauma Records
Trauma Records was a Los Angeles-based independent record label created in 1993 by Paul Palmer and Rob Kahane. Trauma Records had a joint venture agreement with Interscope Records that included financing and distribution through Interscope Records. Trauma signed and developed bands such as Bush, No Doubt, Phunk Junkeez, and The Flys. In 1997, Trauma sued Interscope for $100 million when Interscope laid claim to No Doubt's contract, which Trauma asserted had been transferred to Trauma in 1995. The suit was settled out of court, allowing Trauma to retain the group's recording rights and obtain $3 to $5 million in cash. Trauma's Bush catalogue was transferred to Kirtland Records in 2005. Trauma Records was the label under which NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal released his hip-hop albums, however his most anticipated album, '' Shaquille O'Neal Presents His Superfriends, Vol. 1'' was never released. Interscope Records
Interscope Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group through its Interscope Geffen A&M imprint. Founded in late 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Atlantic Records of Warner Music Group and Interscope Communications, it differed from most record companies by letting A&R staff control decisions and allowing artists and producers full creative control. Its first hit records arrived in under a year, and it achieved profitability in 1993. Chair and CEO until May 2014, Iovine was succeeded by John Janick. Bush (British Band)
Bush are an English rock band formed in London, England in 1992. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gavin Rossdale, lead guitarist Chris Traynor, bassist Corey Britz, and drummer Nik Hughes. In 1994, Bush found immediate success outside the UK with the release of their debut album, '' Sixteen Stone'', which is certified six times multi-platinum by the RIAA. They went on to become one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling over ten million records in the United States and 20 million records worldwide. No Doubt
No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. For most of their career, the band has consisted of vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. Since the mid-1990s, they were supported by trombonist and keyboardist Gabrial McNair and trumpeter and keyboardist Stephen Bradley in live performances. Phunk Junkeez
The Phunk Junkeez are an American rap rock band from Phoenix, Arizona that formed in 1991. The group's original lineup consisted of vocalists Joe Valiente (Soulman) and Kirk Reznik (K-Tel Disco) and rotated through various other members over the years. The band plays music using a number of different styles, from hardcore punk to trip hop and established a strong underground following in the 1990s as one of the first punk rock-based bands to combine elements of funk, hip-hop, and soul in what preceded the larger rap rock movement of the decade. The band is notable for being one of the first to include a DJ within a traditional four-piece rock band. The Flys (US Band)
The Flys were an American rock band, formed in Hollywood in 1994 by Adam Paskowitz and Josh Paskowitz. They are the sons of Doc Paskowitz, described by the New York Times as the "First Family of Surfing." The band has shared the stage and toured with many other well known acts and rock bands, but have been on indefinite hiatus since 2012. Their 1998 alternative top five hit " Got You (Where I Want You)", was produced by Chris Goss, and the video featured actors Katie Holmes and James Marsden. "Got You (Where I Want You)" was on their second album ''Holiday Man'' in 1998 and appeared on the soundtrack for the 1998 MGM film '' Disturbing Behavior'', starring Holmes and Marsden. Kirtland Records
Kirtland Records is a record label based in Dallas, Texas, with offices in Los Angeles, California and New York City. It was co-founded by Deep Blue Something drummer John Kirtland and his wife, Jenny Kirtland of The Polyphonic Spree. History Kirtland Records was founded by John Kirtland, the drummer of alternative rock band Deep Blue Something. After the band broke apart, Kirtland went to work at Trauma Records, an Interscope-affiliated label which launched artists such as Bush and No Doubt. When Trauma Records founder Rob Kahane encountered financial difficulties, he borrowed money from Kirtland, offering as collateral the rights to the Bush back-catalog and royalty rights on the sales of the No Doubt album ''Tragic Kingdom''.
