Trappist Haven Monastery
The Trappist Haven Monastery is a monastery in Tai Shui Hang (), Hong Kong. It is home to a number of Roman Catholic monks of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance, or Trappists. It was originally named "Trappist Haven Monastery," because it was founded by monks from in Yangjiabing, Xuanhua, Chahar, after Our Lady of Consolation Abbey was destroyed by the Communists in 1947, and from , in Zhengding, Hebei (then romanized as Chengting, Hopeh), after thirty-three of the monks were murdered and the community dispersed. Trappist Dairy (Hong Kong) Limited
Trappist Dairy Limited is a small scale dairy producer in Hong Kong, with production based in Yuen Long. It was founded in 1956 by Father Jen Stanislus of the Trappist Haven Monastery, on Lantau Island, and the dairy was initially operated by Trappist Haven of Tai Shui Hang. The dairy processing operations are managed by Lark International Dairy Holdings Limited. Trappist milk products are sold in the traditional glass bottles as well as cardboard cartons. In 2015, batches of Trappist Dairy milk were withdrawn from sale due to safety tests detecting “excessive bacteria”. Lantau Island
Lantau Island (also Lantao Island, Lan Tao) is the largest island in Hong Kong, located West of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, and is part of the New Territories. Administratively, most of Lantau Island is part of the Islands District of Hong Kong. A small northeastern portion of the island is located in the Tsuen Wan District. Peng Chau
Peng Chau is a small island located off the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is known locally for its temples, fishing industry and seafood. Geography Peng Chau has an area of and a perimeter of about . The tallest point of the island is Finger Hill (手指山), which is in height. In 2003, the island underwent land degradation restorative work. Administration Politically, Peng Chau is part of Peng Chau & Hei Ling Chau constituency of the Islands District Council. Kai-to
The kai-to, sometimes kaito or kaido () is a type of small, motorised ferry that operates in Hong Kong. They are usually used to serve remote coastal settlements in the Outlying Islands, Hong Kong, territory's outlying islands.: "Cargo junks of the type still known as kai to or "local ferry" had long plied between NT ports, Hong Kong, and places in the Canton Delta: see e.g. the list of ports in the papers at GN 170 in HKGG, 17 November 1866. Mui Wo
Mui Wo is a rural town on the eastern coast of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The 2011 Census recorded 5,485 people living in Mui Wo and its environs. Mui Wo is located on Silvermine Bay, so named for the silver mines that were once worked along the Silver River () which flows through the village. The main beach in Mui Wo is known as Silver Mine Bay Beach (). The town is known for the feral water buffalos and cows that roam the area. Prior to the Airport Core Programme and the subsequent development of Tung Chung and North Lantau into a new town, Mui Wo was the principal point for day-trippers setting out to explore Lantau Island. Today, it is still the principal way of reaching South Lantau – from the beaches in Cheung Sha to the fishing village of Tai O and the Tian Tan Buddha. Discovery Bay (DB) is a resort town on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It consists of mixed, primarily residential, development, in particular upmarket residential development and private and public recreational facilities, including garden houses, low-, mid- and high-rise residential developments, a 27-hole golf course, an ice rink, a 262-berth marina, two clubhouses, the first private manmade beach in Hong Kong, international schools, two shopping malls and the largest oceanfront alfresco dining area in Hong Kong. Yuen Long District
Yuen Long District (formerly romanised as Un Long) is one of the districts of Hong Kong. Located in the northwest of the New Territories, it had a population of 662,000 in 2021 Geography Yuen Long District contains the largest alluvial plain in Hong Kong, the Yuen Long-Kam Tin plain. Castle Peak Road
Castle Peak Road is the longest road in Hong Kong. Completed in 1920, it runs in the approximate shape of an arc of a semi-circle. It runs West from Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po, New Kowloon, to Tuen Mun, then north to Yuen Long then east to Sheung Shui, in the very north of the New Territories. It is divided into 22 sections. It serves south, west and north New Territories, being one of the most distant roads in early Hong Kong. Name The road was named after Castle Peak, a peak in the western New Territories.
