Transport Canberra
Transport Canberra & City Services (TCCS) is a directorate of the Government of the Australian Capital Territory of the Australian Capital Territory, responsible for managing roads, footpaths and cycle paths and managing public transport in Canberra including ACTION buses and the Canberra Light Rail through its Transport Canberra division. Besides roads and transport, TCCS also delivers services such as recycling and collecting waste, public libraries and ensuring municipal infrastructure such as streetlights and public barbecues are in good working order. It also oversees the management of a number of the ACT Government's commercial operations, including ACT NOWaste, Capital Linen Service, ACT Public Cemeteries Authority (which includes Woden, Gungahlin and Hall cemeteries), and Yarralumla Nursery. Light Rail In Canberra
The Canberra light rail network, also known as Canberra Metro, is a light rail system serving the city of Canberra, Australia. The initial line links the northern town centre of Gungahlin to the city centre (Civic) and has 14 stops. Services commenced on 20 April 2019. The 14th stop at Sandford Street in Mitchell commenced operation in September 2021. An extension of the line south to the Woden Town Centre is currently being planned. Early works on the southern extension (Stage 2A to Commonwealth Park) are set to commence in 2021 with plans due for submission around October. Planning of the remainder of the extension (Stage 2B to Woden) will continue while construction of Stage 2A is underway. The Australian Capital Territory (commonly abbreviated as ACT), known as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) until 1938, is a landlocked federal territory of Australia containing the national capital Canberra and some surrounding townships. It is located in southeastern Australian mainland as an enclave completely within the state of New South Wales. Founded after Federation as the seat of government for the new nation, the territory hosts the headquarters of all important institutions of the Australian Government. On 1 January 1901, federation of the colonies of Australia was achieved. Section 125 of the new Australian Constitution provided that land, situated in New South Wales and at least from Sydney, would be ceded to the new federal government.
