Transnormal Skiperoo
''Transnormal Skiperoo'' is a 2007 album by Jim White. It was produced by Joe Pernice and Michael Deming, recorded with the band Olabelle and also features tracks with Tucker Martine and Laura Veirs, local Georgia legend Don Chambers and Goat, bluegrass duo Jeff & Vida and percussionist Mauro Refosco. In a 2007 interview White said the album title was a term he had invented to describe "a strange new feeling I've been experiencing after years of feeling lost and alone and cursed." He explained: "Now, when everything around me begins to shine, when I find myself dancing around in my back yard for no particular reason other than it feels good to be alive, when I get this deep sense of gratitude that I don't need drugs or God or doomed romance to fuel myself through the gauntlet of a normal day, I call that feeling 'Transnormal Skiperoo'." Jim White (guitarist)
Michael Davis Pratt (born March 10, 1957), known professionally as Jim White, is an American singer-songwriter, visual artist and author. Early life White was born in California but moved to Pensacola, Florida at the age of 5. He was deeply influenced in his childhood by the spectacle of Pentecostal religion and gospel music. According to various sources, he has been a ditch digger, a suntan oil salesman, a landscaper, a dishwasher, a fry cook, a fashion model, a fashion photographer, a professional surfer and a New York City cab driver. Before embarking on a music career, White attended film school at New York University. Soon after finishing his lengthy thesis at the university, White entered a self-described "deep hole of sickness and depression and poverty". Clyde Petersen is an artist based in Seattle, working in film, animation, music, and installation. As a director he is most renowned for ''Torrey Pines'' (2016), an autobiographical stop-motion animated feature film, which toured the world with a live score. He is the founding member of punk band Your Heart Breaks. Between 2012 and 2015 he hosted the web series ''Boating with Clyde'', set on a small handmade boat in the Washington Park Arboretum. Petersen is transgender and his art often explores queer themes. Laura Pauline Veirs (born October 24, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter based out of Portland, Oregon. She is known for her folk/alternative country records and live performances as well as her collaboration with Neko Case and k.d. lang on the case/lang/veirs project. Veirs has written a children's book and hosts a podcast about parenting and performing. Early life and education Veirs graduated from General William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1997, Veirs graduated from Carleton College, where she was a geology major and studied Mandarin Chinese.
