Trans-Tasman Cup
The Trans-Tasman Cup was an association football competition played between Australia and New Zealand. Six editions were played between 1983 and 1995 after the OFC Nations Cup was discontinued. It was considered the most important Oceanian tournament during the absence of the OFC Nations Cup. The tournament was won four times by Australia and twice by New Zealand. The 1995 edition doubled as a semifinal for the 1996 OFC Nations Cup. Association Football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. The Caledonian Ground, often simply known as "The Caley", is a major sports venue in the New Zealand city of Dunedin. It is primarily used for football (soccer) and athletics, and has a capacity of 7,500. Location The Caledonian Ground is currently sited at the northern end of Logan Park in Dunedin North, close to Logan Park High School and close to the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic. Scott Ollerenshaw (born 9 February 1968) is a former Australian association football player, best known for his appearances for his country's national side in the late 1980s. Club career A prominent forward and winger, Scott Ollerenshaw played for several clubs including St George Saints and Sydney Olympic in Australia's National Soccer League before heading overseas. Hutt Recreation Ground
The Hutt Recreation Ground is a football, cricket and rugby union ground in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand. The grounds are owned by the Hutt City Council and managed for them by Downer. History In 1905 the area was first used for recreation when the lot was used by the Hutt Amateur Athletic Club. It was subsequently purchased by the city council and in 1908 the premises were upgraded. The first grandstand at the ground was constructed in 1933 as part of a public works scheme to provide employment relief during the Great Depression. Fred de Jong (born 5 April 1964) is a New Zealand former football striker who represented his country in the 1980s and early 1990s. Club career De Jong played senior football with Mt. Wellington before moving to Australia, helping Marconi Stallions to consecutive National Soccer League titles in 1988 and 1989.
