Tracy Smith (baseball)
Tracy Smith (born February 14, 1966) is an American baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Michigan Wolverines. He played college baseball at Miami (OH) from 1985 to 1988 for head coach Jon Pavlisko, before pursuing a professional career from 1988 to 1990. He then served as the head coach of the Miami RedHawks (1997–2005), the Indiana Hoosiers (2006–2014) and the Arizona State Sun Devils (2015–2021). Smith was the head coach of Indiana from 2006 to 2014, during which time the Hoosiers appeared in three NCAA Tournaments, advancing to the College World Series once. As the head coach of Miami (OH) from 1997–2005, Smith led the RedHawks to two NCAA Tournaments. Playing career Smith played for South Newton High School. Michigan Wolverines Baseball
The Michigan Wolverines baseball team represents the University of Michigan in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with most other Michigan athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the Big Ten Conference. They play their home games at Ray Fisher Stadium. The Wolverines have made the College World Series eight times, winning two national championships in 1953 and 1962. Robert G. Morgan (born 1947) is an American former baseball player and coach. As a player at Ohio University (Athens, OH) he never lost a game in his collegiate history. Robert was then drafted out of Ohio University to the Detroit Tigers. He served as the head baseball coach at the College of Wooster from 1976 to 1981, Kent State University from 1982 to 1983, and Indiana University Bloomington from 1984 to 2005, compiling a career college baseball coaching record of 1074-583-6. The Quinnipiac Bobcats baseball team (formerly the Quinnipiac Braves) is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, United States. The Creighton Bluejays baseball team represents the Creighton University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The 2005 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 30 through June 26, . Sixty-four NCAA Division I college baseball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA tournament. The tournament culminated with 8 teams in the College World Series at historic Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. A major format change for the regionals began in 2005. Rather than play both games of the championship round on the third day (usually Sunday) of the tournament, the "if necessary" championship game would be played on the fourth day of the tournament (usually Monday), allowing a team in the loser's bracket to rest some of its pitchers for a winner-take-all contest. Mid-American Conference Baseball Tournament
The Mid-American Conference baseball tournament is the conference baseball championship of the Mid-American Conference, Division I members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Since 2022, the top four finishers participate in the double-elimination tournament, which is played at the home field of the top seed. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The tournament began in 1981, but was not held from 1984 through 1991. It returned in 1992 and was held annually through 2019. It was scheduled to be played in May 2020, but was cancelled in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
