Traci Conrad-Fischer
Traci Lynn Conrad (born December 17, 1976) is an American softball coach and former softball player. She is a coach with Select Florida Softball and previously served as an assistant coach at Notre Dame. She played professional softball for the Akron Racers of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league from 1999 to 2000. Conrad also played college softball for the Michigan Wolverines softball team from 1996 to 1999. She was the first player to win two Big Ten Conference batting titles, accomplishing the feat in both 1998 and 1999. She also set and continues to hold the Big Ten record with 345 career hits. Conrad was also the first Michigan softball player to be selected twice as a first-team NFCA All-American and the first to win the Big Ten Player of the Year award twice. Michigan Wolverines Softball
The Michigan Wolverines softball team represents the University of Michigan in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I competition. College softball became a varsity sport at the University of Michigan in 1978. Bonnie Tholl has been the head coach since 2023, following the retirement of longtime head coach Carol Hutchins. In 2005, Hutchins' team became the first Division I softball team since 1976 from east of the Mississippi River to win the Women's College World Series. Carol Hutchins
Carol Sue Hutchins (born May 26, 1957) is an American former softball coach. In 38 years as the head coach of Michigan Wolverines softball, (1985–2022), she won more games than more than any other coach in University of Michigan history in any sport, male or female with 1,684 wins. Hutchins had a career record of 1,707 wins, 551 losses, and five ties, for a winning percentage. She led the Wolverines to their first NCAA softball championship in 2005. On April 2, 2016, Hutchins became the winningest head coach in NCAA Division I Softball history when Michigan defeated Indiana, passing Margie Wright's record of 1,457 career wins. Sara Griffin (born February 19, 1976), later known as Sara Webster, is a softball coach and former softball player and athletic compliance officer. While playing for the University of Michigan from 1995 to 1998, she was a three-time, first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American. She compiled a win–loss record of 106–19 at Michigan and concluded her collegiate career as the career leader in wins in the Big Ten Conference. Women's College World Series
The Women's College World Series (WCWS) is the final portion of the NCAA Division I softball tournament for college softball in the United States. Eight teams participate in the WCWS, which begins with a double-elimination tournament. In other words, a team is eliminated when it has lost two games. After six teams have been eliminated, the remaining two teams compete in a best-of-three series to determine the Division I WCWS National Champion. Opponents are chosen in such a way that it is possible for any two of the eight teams to meet in the championship series. In this respect the WCWS differs from the Men's College World Series in baseball, in which the eight teams are divided into two brackets of four teams each, and the winner of one bracket meets the winner of the other bracket in the best-of-three championship series.
