Toyo Fujita
Toyo Fujita (16 July 1893 – 25 July 1959) was a Japanese actor who worked in Hollywood from the late 1910s through the mid-1930s. Biography Toyo earned a reputation as a talented actor on the stage in Japan, and later moved to the United States, where he appeared in theatrical productions in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He later settled down in Los Angeles, where he owned and operated a theater in the city's Little Tokyo neighborhood. Apparently this is where he met Sessue Hayakawa, an actor he often worked with in Hollywood films. He told reporters he was fond of reading about pirates. ''Five Days to Live'' is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Norman Dawn and featuring Sessue Hayakawa, Tsuru Aoki, Goro Kino, Misao Seki, Toyo Fujita, and George Kuwa. An impoverished Chinese vase painter is considered an unsuitable suitor for his lover. He accepts the offer of a wealthy thief to die in his place at the day of his execution, in exchange for payment in gold. Paid in advance, the painter marries his lover. Five days later, he attempts to fulfil his promise and die at the thief's place. But he learns that the thief has already died from a cholera infection, and there is no need for him to die. Nichiren
Nichiren (6 April 1222 – 13 October 1282) was a Japanese Buddhist priest and philosopher of the Kamakura period. Nichiren declared that the Lotus Sutra alone contains the highest truth of Buddhist teachings suited for the Third Age of Buddhism, insisting that the Sovereign of Japan and its people should support only this form of Buddhism and eradicate all others. He advocated the repeated recitation of its title, ''Nam(u)-myoho-renge-kyo'' as the only path to Buddhahood and held that Shakyamuni Buddha and all other Buddhist deities were extraordinary manifestations of a particular Buddha-nature termed “''Myoho—Renge''” that is equally accessible to all. , known professionally as , was a Japanese actor and a matinée idol. He was a popular star in Hollywood during the silent film era of the 1910s and early 1920s. Hayakawa was the first actor of Asian descent to achieve stardom as a leading man in the United States and Europe. His "broodingly handsome" good looks and typecasting as a sexually dominant villain made him a heartthrob among American women during a time of racial discrimination, and he became one of the first male sex symbols of Hollywood. After withdrawing from the Japanese naval academy and attempting suicide at 18, Hayakawa attended the University of Chicago, where he studied political economics in accordance with his wealthy parents' wish that he become a banker.
