Towns In Lithuania
Towns in Lithuania ( lt, miestelis) retain their historical distinctiveness even though for statistical purposes they are counted together with villages. At the time of the census in 2001, there were 103 cities, 244 towns, and some 21,000 villages in Lithuania. Since then three cities ( Juodupė, Kulautuva, and Tyruliai) and two villages ( Salakas and Jūrė) became towns. Therefore, during the 2011 census, there were 249 towns in Lithuania. The 2001 Lithuania Census was carried out during April 6 - April 16 by the Lithuanian Department of Statistics. The results were published in 2002.2001 Census results
At the period of the census the country was subdivided as follows: *10 Counties of Lithuania, counties *60 municipalities of Lithuania, municipalities *106 cities *464 rural eldership (Lithuania), elderships *21,500 rural settlements Total population was 3,483,972, of which 2,332,098 were urban dwellers and 1,151,874 were rural dwellers.

Alsėdžiai
Alsėdžiai ( Samogitian: ''Alsiedē'', pl, Olsiady) is a small town in the Plungė district municipality. It is near the Sruoja River, from Plungė. Alsėdžiai is an administrative center of the Alsėdžiai eldership. Molėtai District Municipality
Molėtai () ( pl, Malaty) is a town in north eastern Lithuania surrounded by lakes. One of the oldest settlements in Lithuania, it is a popular resort for the inhabitants of Vilnius. According to the 2013 census, it had 6,302 inhabitants. The town is located about north of Vilnius and south of Utena. Alanta (dialectal Aukštaitian name ''Alunta'', pl, Owanta, Yiddish אַוואָנטע) is a small town in Molėtai district municipality, Lithuania. It is the administrative seat of the Alanta Elderate. Kėdainiai () is one of the oldest cities in Lithuania. It is located north of Kaunas on the banks of the Nevėžis River.
