Tove Nielsen (politician)
Tove Nielsen (born 1941) is a Danish teacher who served as the minister of education in the cabinet led by Poul Hartling between 1973 and 1975. She was also a member of the Danish Parliament and European Parliament. Biography Nielsen was born in Durup, Salling, on 8 April 1941. She obtained a teaching degree in 1964 and worked as a teacher until 1973. She was appointed minister of education to the cabinet of Prime Minister Poul Hartling on 19 December 1973. She replaced Ritt Bjerregaard Ritt Bjerregaard (full name Jytte Ritt Bjerregaard; 19 May 1941 – 21 January 2023) was a Danish politician who was a member of the Danish Social Democrats, and was Lord Mayor of Copenhagen from 1 January 2006 to 2010. Education Minister of Denmark ( da, Undervisningsminister, ), or Minister of Education in Denmark, is a Denmark, Danish minister (government), minister office currently held by Mattias Tesfaye in the Frederiksen II Cabinet. The office was created in 1916 when the post Kultus Minister of Denmark, Kultus Minister was split up into the posts of Education Minister and Church Minister (Denmark), Church Minister. The new Church Minister also took over the responsibility for culture from the Culture Minister, a task later transferred to the Minister for Cultural Affairs (Denmark), Minister for Cultural Affairs in 1961. Poul Hartling
Poul Hartling (14 August 1914 – 30 April 2000) was a Danish politician and diplomat. He was leader of Venstre from 1965 to 1977, and served as Prime Minister of Denmark from 1973 to 1975. Prior to that, he served as foreign minister from 1968 to 1971 under Hilmar Baunsgaard. From 1978 to 1985, he served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Career Hartling graduated in theology 1939, became ordained as a priest, and later headed a teacher's seminary. He was a member of parliament 1957–1960, and again 1964–1977, and party leader 1965–1977. Hartling served as Foreign Minister of Denmark from 1968 until 1971 in the Cabinet of Hilmar Baunsgaard. Hartling was Prime Minister from 1973 until 1975. In the chaotic situation with many new parties after the 1973 Danish parliamentary election his single party minority government commanded only 22 out 179 seats in parliament.
