Tour Of California (women's Race)
The Women's Tour of California is the women's event of the Tour of California, an annual road bicycle racing event in California, United States. Raced over four stages, the event usually finishes with a criterium stage in Sacramento. It is organized by Anschutz Entertainment Group and part of the UCI Women's World Tour. Tayler Wiles (born July 20, 1989) is an American racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She rode at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships. Wiles originally played soccer until she entered the University of Utah as a pre-medical student at the age of 18. She subsequently took up cycling with her then boyfriend during her sophomore year in 2008. Personal life Wiles is openly gay. She is married to former professional cyclist Olivia Dillon. History In 1995 Australian Bill Mitchell, a keen cyclist and professor of economics at the University of Newcastle, created the website titled "Bill’s Cycling Racing Results and News" after finding there was a need for fast-breaking news and race results in English-speaking countries. In 1999 Sydney-based publishing company Knapp Communications purchased the website from Mitchell, and in July 2007 they sold it to British publisher Future plc for £2.2m. In July 2014 it was bought by Immediate Media Company, along with the print-only ''Procycling'' magazine. In February 2019, Immediate Media sold its cycling titles back to Future. The fourth running of the Tour of California (women's race), Women's Tour of California ''(officially: Amgen Tour of California Women's Race empowered with SRAM)'' was held from 17 to 19 May 2018. American Katie Hall (cyclist), Katie Hall won the race. Tayler Wiles was second, Kasia Niewiadoma third. It was the 11th race of the 2018 UCI Women's World Tour. Evelyn Lee Stevens (born May 9, 1983) is an American retired professional road bicycle racing, road cyclist. Early life Stevens was born in Claremont, California but grew up in Acton, Massachusetts, where she attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. She studied government and women and gender studies at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and was a member of the college's tennis team. Kristin Armstrong Savola (; born August 11, 1973) is a former professional road bicycle racer and three-time Olympic gold medalist, the winner of the women's individual time trial in 2008, 2012, and 2016. The 2016 Amgen Tour of California Women's Race (also known as the Amgen Breakaway From Heart Disease Women's Race Empowered by SRAM for sponsorship reasons) was the second edition of the Tour of California Women's Race cycling stage race.
