Touching Cloth
''Touching cloth'' is a studio album by the American punk band Youth Gone Mad. It includes songs written and performed with Dee Dee Ramone, formerly of the Ramones. The song "Guns" was originally written by Youth Gone Mad, but first recorded by Southern California hardcore punk band D.I. (band), D.I. Its appearance on ''Touching cloth'' marks the first studio recording of "Guns" by Youth Gone Mad, despite having been written two decades earlier. "Amoeba" is a cover song, originally recorded by Adolescents (band), Adolescents. The version here features vocals by a young Madeline Follin who would go on to form Cults (band), Cults. Follin also sang on the original tune "Go Outter" and a cover of "Killer in Your Radio" (originally by Hammerbrain). ''Madeline'' is a media franchise that originated as a series of children's books written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, an Austrian-American author. The books have been adapted into numerous formats, spawning telefilms, television series and a live action feature film. As a closing line, the adaptations invoke a famous phrase Ethel Barrymore used to rebuff curtain calls, "That's all there is, there isn't any more". The stories take place in a Catholic boarding school in Paris. The teacher, a nun named Miss Clavel, is strict but loves the children, cares for them, and is open to their ideas. Cults (band)
Cults is an American indie pop band formed in New York City in 2010. The band first came to prominence when they posted a three-song EP, ''Cults 7"'', on their Bandcamp page. They are signed to Sony and In the Name Of, a record label that was set up by British singer Lily Allen. History Cults formed in 2010 while guitarist Brian Oblivion and singer Madeline Follin, both from San Diego, were students in New York City. Oblivion went to NYU to study documentary cinema, Follin went to The New School. Madeline had previously recorded with punk band Youth Gone Mad on the album, '' Touching Cloth''. Cults released an EP on Forrest Family Records, ''Cults 7"'', with the track "Go Outside" recorded by Paul Kostabi at Thunderdome Studios, named "Best New Music" by Pitchfork Media. Adolescents (band)
The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in Fullerton, California in 1980. Part of the hardcore punk movement in southern California in the early 1980s, they were one of the main punk acts to emerge from Orange County, along with their peers in Agent Orange and Social Distortion. Founding bassist Steve Soto was the sole constant member of the band since its inception until his 2018 death, with singer Tony Reflex being in the group for all but one album. During the 1980s the band went through several lineup changes, breakups, and reunions, most involving drummer Casey Royer and guitarist brothers Rikk, Frank, and Alfie Agnew. Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first true punk rock group. Despite achieving a limited commercial appeal in the United States during their time together, the band saw more success in England and Brazil, and are today seen as highly influential. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", although none of them were biologically related; they were inspired by Paul McCartney, who would check into hotels as "Paul Ramon". Youth Gone Mad
Youth Gone Mad is an American punk rock band founded in Los Angeles, California, United States, in 1980 by Paul Kostabi, Paul "ENA" Kostabi (also of White Zombie (band), White Zombie and Psychotica). Youth Gone Mad signed onto the Posh Boy Records roster, scored a minor radio hit with "Oki Dogs" in 1981, and played with bands such as Black Flag (band), Black Flag, Caustic Cause, The Mentors, MDC (band), The Stains, Fear (band), Fear, and others. The band migrated east to New York, and went through numerous line-up changes along the way. Dee Dee Ramone
Douglas Glenn Colvin (September 18, 1951 – June 5, 2002), better known by his stage name Dee Dee Ramone, was an American musician. He was the bassist and a founding member of the punk rock band Ramones. Throughout the band's existence, he was the most prolific lyricist and composer, writing many of their best-known songs, such as "53rd & 3rd", "Chinese Rock", "Commando", "Wart Hog", " Rockaway Beach", "Poison Heart" and " Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" (also known as "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down"). The latter won the New York Music Award for best independent single of the year in 1986, while ''Animal Boy'', which the song is from, won for best album.
