Lanyang Museum
The Lanyang Museum (LYM; ) is a museum about the local area in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. History Engineering In 1989, local Yilan personnel proposed the establishment of Kailan Museum. In December 1992, Yilan County Government established the Museum Preparatory and Planning Committee and the official name of the museum was chosen to be Lanyang Museum. The museum location was chosen to be near Wushi Harbor area in Toucheng Township. In September 1994, the Yilan County Government appointed National Museum of Natural Science and Building and Planning Research Foundation of National Taiwan University to form the planning team to implement Lanyang Museum Overall Development and Planning Research which was completed in 1995. Wushi Harbor
The Wushi Harbor () is a harbor in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. History The harbor was inaugurated in 1826. It used to be the commercial hub for cargo ships entering and leaving the area during Qing Dynasty. In 19th century, there has been many sedimentation on the harbor seabed. With addition to the opening of Yilan Line railway, the harbor became less popular. After the year 2000, the Executive Yuan designated the harbor area as park and cultural zone. Toucheng Old Street
The Toucheng Old Street () is a street in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. Name Toucheng means ''First Town'' literally. It used to be known as Touwei Street. History Toucheng Old Street was used to be known as Touwei Street () in early times. It was established during the Qing Dynasty rule. The area around the street used to be an important trading district with the booming river and harbor transportation sector, especially the Wushih and Touwei Harbors. The decline in this area started with the 1878 flood which affected Wushih Harbor. An American ship sank and subsequently blocked the entrance of the harbor in 1883. Although the harbor function was partially moved to Toucheng Harbor, the harbor was also flooded in 1924. With also the completion of highways and railway, especially the opening of Hsuehshan Tunnel, as well as the shifting of business center elsewhere, make this old street lost its fame. The Lee Rong-chun Literary Museum () is a museum in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. History The museum building used to be the principal's dormitory of Toucheng Elementary School. The building was then declared a historical building by Yilan County Government. Originally it was converted into the Toucheng Township History Hall by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the county government. It was then converted into ''Lee Rong-chun Literary Museum'' in 2009. Lan Yang Institute of Technology (LYIT; ) is a private college in Toucheng Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. Yilan Line
The Yilan Line () is the northern section of the Eastern Line of the Taiwan Railways Administration in Taiwan. It has a length of 95 km. History This railroad was completed in 1924 as the Giran-sen during Imperial Japanese rule over Taiwan. It was expanded to two tracks in the early 1980s. In 2000, it was electrified between Badu and Luodong, while the remaining part was completed in 2003. On 4 December 2020, a landslide buried a section of the line between Houtong and Ruifang Station in Ruifang District, resulting in the rail service disruption along the line. Emergency work was then carried out to remove the 10,000 m3 debris and to restore the overhead line. On 14 December, the line was fully reopened for service.
