Touch The Wall
''Touch the Wall'' is a documentary film about American swimmers Missy Franklin and Kara Lynn Joyce and their journey to the 2012 Summer Olympics. The film was funded through a kickstarter campaign and private funding in 2013, and released in 2014 via Tugg. The film premiered as a red carpet feature at the Stars Denver Film Festival to an audience of 2800 people, and then again in New York on Sunday November 23, one day before USA Swimming Foundation's Golden Goggles awards which were also in New York. The New York premiere was co-presented with USA Swimming. The film was directed and produced by Christo Brock and Grant Barbeito, a filmmaking duo from Los Angeles. Swimming At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The swimming competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London took place from 28 July to 4 August at the Aquatics Centre. The open-water competition took place from 9 to 10 August in Hyde Park. Swimming featured 34 events (17 male, 17 female), including two 10 km open-water marathons in Hyde Park's Serpentine Lake. The remaining 32 were contested in a 50 m long course pool within the Olympic Park. United States claimed a total of 31 medals (16 golds, 9 silver, and 6 bronze) in the leaderboard to maintain its supremacy as the most successful nation in swimming. David Marsh (swimming Coach)
David "Dave" Marsh (born December 29, 1958) is the head coach of Team Elite in San Diego, California, and the ‘Professional Adviser’ of the Israel Swimming Association. Marsh worked to build Team Elite under SwimMAC Carolina since 2007. Prior to founding Team Elite he was the men's and women's swimming coach at Auburn University. After becoming head coach of Auburn in 1990, Marsh led the men's team to seven NCAA national championships (1997, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007) and the women's team to five national championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007). He finished his coaching career at Auburn at the conclusion of the 2007 season, after which he became the Head Elite Coach and CEO of the United States Olympic Committee Center of Excellence with SwimMAC Carolina. Missy Franklin
Melissa Franklin Johnson (born May 10, 1995) is an American former competition swimmer and five-time Olympic gold medalist. She formerly held the world record in the 200-meter backstroke (long course). As a member of the U.S. national swim team, she also held the world records in the 4×100-meter medley relay (short course and long course). In her Olympic debut at the 2012 Summer Olympics at age 17, Franklin won a total of five medals, four of which were gold. She swept the women's backstroke events, winning gold in both the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.
