Tottenham Steam
The Tottenham Thunder are a Canada, Canadian junior ice hockey, junior ice hockey team based in Tottenham, Ontario. They play in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). The team was known as the Tottenham Steam for its first six seasons. History The Tottenham Steam joined the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) in 2014. Their first general manager and head coach was Ryan Wood. The Steam played their first game, at home, on September 6, 2014. Hosting the Russell Cup champions Bradford Bulls (2012-), Bradford Bulls, winning 7–5. The first goal in team history was scored by Brian Rupp after 3:44 into the first period. Shortly after winning their first Russell Cup championship in 2016, the Tottenham Steam gained new owners in the DaSilva family. Tottenham, Ontario
Tottenham is a community in the town of New Tecumseth, in south-central Ontario, Canada. It takes its name from its first postmaster, Alexander Totten. The Tottenham Conservation Area is a recreational facility in the village, which is also famous for its annual event, the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival. There is also a restored steam train that is a tourist attraction, taking passengers to Beeton, Ontario, Beeton and back. Tottenham is home to three schools: Tottenham Public School, Father F.X. O'Reilly School, and Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. The town was ravaged by a fire in 1895, which began at the McKinney foundry. Eighty structures were destroyed, including the foundry and a Methodist church. Despite warnings in 1884 that the town needed a fire engine, none was purchased. The Knights of Meaford are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Meaford, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). History The Knights of Meaford joined the GMHL in spring 2013. The Knights are the first junior team in Meaford since the Meaford Monarchs of the Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League in the late 1970s. On September 8, 2013, the Knights traveled to Burlington, Ontario, to play their first game against the Halton Ravens. Despite trailing 6–3 in the second period, the Knights rallied to win the game 9–8. Zach Newman scored the first goal in team history at 3:52 of the first period. Tillsonburg is a town in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada with a population of 18,615 located about 50 kilometres southeast of London, on Highway 3 at the junction of Highway 19. History Prior to European settlement, the present site of Tillsonburg was home to Indigenous tribes. The Tillsonburg Village Site, a 14th century Iroquoian village, was excavated in 2001 and 2008, in the northwest corner of the town, and contained 15 longhouses. The area was settled in 1825 by George Tillson and other immigrants from Enfield, Massachusetts. A forge and sawmill were erected and roads built which led to the establishment of this small community, originally called Dereham Forge. The settlement was on the Big Otter Creek.
